The street was silent and foreboding, it's natural environment of loud merchants calling to passers-by was upset by the confrontation that had occurred. Soldiers encompassed a solitary figure who was crouching like a cat ready to strike it's prey. Their guns were trained on the ingenious thief and each of them took small comfort in it.
"Soldiers! At ease!" commanded a voice. The soldiers, guns still aimed at their quarry, turned to see their Lieutenant Colonel and became confused as to what to do.
The lieutenant Colonel was his newly appointed rank, he had spent much of his childhood in pain and suffering and as a result had quickly matured. After his endurance of a life wrought of hardships he had looked forward to settling down but what he hadn't planned for was that an adventurer's heart beat in his chest which made him yearn for it, so after a few months he had rejoined the military and become what he had despised not too long ago.
Lieutenant Colonel Edward Elric 21 years of age
"Lower your weapons damnit! and return to Central HQ!" Ed barked at them. The soldiers reluctantly obeyed (and silently wondered if their Colonel was crazy), saluting Ed as they passed him and marched single file towards the warm and inviting barracks.
The thief laughed out loud unable to contain her enjoyment over what had transpired "I guess I can't call you a little boy anymore?" She crowed. Ed grinned and rubbed the back of his neck and remembered how surprised everyone had been when he had spontaneously shot up in height. "You've grown up Ed, I told you we would cross paths again" she smiled warmly.
Ed became serious when he remembered who he was dealing with", Why did you come to Central City Psiren? weren't there enough place to rob?" he said in mock sympathy. Psiren stood, wiped imaginary dust from her knees and stared at Ed. Ed met her gaze unwilling to be stared down and when the silence had become unbearable ", Well!" he demanded. Psiren advanced toward Ed until she was almost touching him, looked up into his eyes and said "I came for you."
Ed flinched and stepped back from Psiren in a daze as if he was hit by a car , You must be joking, he thought inside his head, so many thoughts erupted into his head each vying for his attention until the face of one of the most important people in his life won the battle. "I can't" he said flatly, he looked for any reaction from Psiren and was rewarded when she removed her mask and he saw the pain of loss in her eyes.
"Why? We aren't that hugely far apart in age and my looks are stll able to melt the heart of many men, what you don't understand is that when I saw you, I knew you were something special and I covet special things... When I heard of your return Ed my heart lept" she cried, Ed saw she was pleading in desperation and also saw she wasn't lying.
Psiren was young, curvaceous and beautiful, her voice was soft and angelic as well as entoxicating and her risque outfit awakened lust in Ed. He reminded himself of where his heart lay and was broken from his trance when he saw people returning to the street ",Let's talk about this elsewhere" he said and walked down the street with Psiren at his side.
Psiren and Ed were sitting in the hard wooden chairs at the small table in Ed's modest house, he only bought the place to house his collection of rare alchemic books and rarely spent his time in the dusty old house. Psiren's eyes wandered around the room, when Ed spoke she was startled "Casing the joint?" Ed inquired without humour, Psiren grinned at him and replied " I was thinking Lieutenant Colonel's don't get paid enough" and she laughed at the scowl Ed gave her and again when his scowl quivered into a smile.
"What I wanted to tell you..." he held up his hand to show a band of metal round his finger "..is that Im married."
