Preface

If the darkness is night and that is the safest time for Vampires, then they are dark. If Darkness is evil, and Vampires are dark, that must mean they're evil. I was still a good girl when I killed the Volturi. After their decimation I became the evil being my mother always dreaded for me.

The darkness consumed,
A bright little girl,
Turned her cold and unfeeling,
She attacked others without grieving,

So in between the heaven,
And the hell it would seem,
There is a place known,
As purgatory

So in the darkness an evil formed,
In the form of something,
That once shone gold,
This is the final word, of the ancient world.

I re-read the poem my father had written and grinned. It described me so perfectly yet had been written about my father from the perspective he'd seen himself before Bella. He was wrong. He had been so wrong. I kissed my fingers then rested them on my lover's headstone. He was gone and I could not rest until I'd seen him avenged. Even if that meant the destruction of every damn Vampire on this planet. I rose to my feet and turned to leave. With a final glance over my shoulder, I read the words that claimed the void was real.
