A/N: my stab at the whole Booth tells Brennan why he called it off thing …
Seeley Booth woke up on his side of the bed and as far as he could remember he and Brennan sleep on their sides of the bed all night long. When he'd finally came upstairs the night before he found Brennan asleep on her side facing away from him. Sighing he got up and pulled up the list of recent calls on his phone, leaving it where Brennan would see it and headed to the bathroom. Twenty minutes later a freshly showered Booth was fixing his tie when Brennan came in the bathroom and wrapped her arms around his waist, hugging him to her. "You left your phone on my dresser." Brennan put the piece of black plastic in his breast pocket.
Booth grinned a little, "thanks, it was dark last night, I must have just put it down on the first thing I found."
Brennan nodded and pressed he lips to the back of Booth's neck like she was going to kiss him, but instead she whispered, "I know why, I'm mad but not at you."
Booth smiled and rubbed Brennan's arm, she smiled back and whispered "something bad would have happened to someone right?" Booth rubbed her arm again.
"To us?"
Booth slightly moved his head.
"To someone else? Booth rubbed Brennan's arm.
"Bystanders?" more arm rubbing.
"It's fine Booth we can just be 'engaged to be engaged' until things settle down."
Booth smiled and turned, pulling Brennan to him and whispered against her cheek, "I love you and I'm sorry, but at least you know why."
Brennan nodded and kissed Booth for real this time, "I love you too."
Booth pulled back, and grinned at Brennan, using a normal tone of voice he said,"I'm in the mood for blueberry pancakes."
'That does sound good. Christine should be up if you want to take her downstairs. I'll be down as soon as I shower."
"Okay take your time." Booth headed out the door, but turned back at the last minute."Bones?"
Brennan looked from around the closet. "Yeah?"
"The center must hold…"
"It will…"
There you have it. For the record I loved the finale, I think Brennan knows what happened; she's too smart not to know that it wasn't Booth's mom on the phone. I think she knows that Pelant is the reason because Booth was so happy before. I think that's part of the reason she was crying, because Pelant took their happiness away. I can't wait to see what season 9 holds ….
