Dandelion Seeds
A light breeze wafted around her, playing with her short brown hair. The smell of flowers floated through the air.
Hazel closed her eyes and laid down in the soft grass. She didn't move, just listened to the sounds around her.
A little piece of fluff alighted on the tip of her nose. Hazel opened her eyes and stared down at the tiny dandelion seed.
Suddenly, the wind whipped up, swirling around her. As it moved, it picked up more of the dandelion seeds.
The wind wrapped around Hazel, lifting her to her feet. It curled around her, contorting itself into a human shape. The dandelion seeds danced with the wind, making a more solid from.
One Hazel recognized well.
Augustus.
Every detail was perfect, from his hair to the way he stood to the cigarette dangling from his crooked smile.
Hazel gasped. The dandelion and wind Augustus smiled and stepped towards her.
"Hazel. Still as beautiful as that first day. How are you?" he said. "O-okay, I guess," she stuttered. She couldn't say more than that. Seeing Augustus again, even if it was only partly him, was something Hazel had never thought possible.
"Why are you here?" she asked.
Augustus sighed happily. "Oh, Hazel, I've come to get you. We're going home."
He lost form, spreading out to envelope her. The wind lifted her by the arms, floating her gently up through a hole in the sky.
Above the hole was spread a huge yard with a house on a hill. The wind dropped Hazel in front of the house. It swirled to the side of her, forming Augustus once more. He opened the front door and reached for her hand. Hazel held it and watched it solidify. The rest of Augustus did, too.
Hazel smiled and hugged his arm. They walked through the door, and lived, in their own way, happily.
