Her Light in the Darkness
Chapter 1- Unexpected Announcement
"No way! I'm not going!"
Felicity was shocked. Her foster parents had told her that she was to go to a new school, the seventh one she'd been to in seven years.
"Felicity, you have no choice, we already signed you up, nothing you say will work this time," said her foster mother.
"You can't expect me to go, I've made friends for the first time at this school," argued Felicity, "You can't expect me to just pick up and leave."
"You know that my job makes me move around all the time," said her father, "Those so called friends of yours were nothing but trouble."
"But no one at this school will be like me," cried Felicity.
"Well no wonder, look at you," said her mom skeptically.
She was right; Felicity was as different as could be. She had short black hair that would have been normal had it not had blue streaks in it. She wore dark make up and almost all black clothing.
"Felicity, this discussion is closed, you're going and that's final. We already have your trunk packed with your school supplies and your broom and we have your ticket," said her foster father, handing her a train ticket.
"But-you-you can't be serious," stuttered Felicity.
"We're very serious," said her dad.
Felicity could see that she was beaten. She couldn't believe it.
"I hate you!" she screamed.
She ran up the stairs to her room and slammed the door. She threw herself onto her bed and burst into tears. Felicity couldn't believe it. She was going to leave in one week; she wasn't ready, not at all. She looked down at her trunk beside her bed. She glared at it and kicked it, hard.
"Ow!" she cried.
Felicity sat rubbing her sore foot. Then she sighed and got up. She stared around her room.
Once again I have to leave another school. It wouldn't be so horrible if I didn't have friends. I can't believe they expect me to go to a brand new school for my last year of schooling. I won't be back for a whole year, she thought, and then I'll have to move out and find a job.
This was the worst day of her life. No, the day her parents died was the worst day of her life. They had died on her birthday, August 25, to be exact.
Flashback
Felicity was far behind her parents tying her shoe.
"Felicity, honey, hurry up," called her mom.
"Coming," Felicity called back.
She was dusting herself off, when she heard her mother scream.
"Let her go!" yelled her dad.
Felicity ran towards the sound of her parents voices.
"Mum! Dad!"
She heard someone laugh, and then she heard the curse.
"AVADA KEDAVRA!"
Felicity saw a bright green light then saw her parents fall to the ground.
"NO!" she screamed.
She saw two men running away into the oncoming darkness as she approached the huddled figures of her parents.
"Mum? D-Dad?" she stammered.
Felicity touched both of their faces, but knew they would not wake up. Tears flowed down her cheeks as she fell to her knees beside them.
"Somebody, help!" she screamed.
Flashback Ended
Felicity's eyes welled up with tears every time she remembered that day. She had just realized, with horror that tomorrow was her birthday, the six year anniversary of her parents' death.
No, she thought, nothing could be worse than that day, nothing.
She fell back onto her bed and cried herself to sleep.
