Disclaimer: I don't own Bleach, or any of the Bleach characters used in this fic. They all belong to Tite Kubo: the genius behind the captivating manga that started it all. I only own any of my original characters that I choose to include, as well as any of my own original plot ideas.

Questionable

Prompt: To be, or not to be...

A/N: I'm so sorry for the mix-up! When I posted this yesterday, I accidentally uploaded the wrong document!

As with every secret, there was a risk that she would be found out. The idea alone was thrill and horror enough, but not enough to stop her endeavors. And, to further jeopardize the situation, her eyes would wander, even when she was in the company of her lieutenant, earning her worried glances and questions that seemed to grow, each time, in number. The world, it seemed, was slowing down; lengthening the days while shortening the nights and fleeting moments she so enjoyed.

In the mornings, she often found herself wishing for that arrogance and sarcasm in her ear. She would then remind herself of their agreement for the other to be gone by first light so as to avoid being detected. Such a thing made her feel as though she were a student at the academy again, as secrets of this magnitude were more common among teenagers.

As of late, Retsu had come to seriously question what she had gotten into. It certainly wasn't easy keeping something like this from the rest of her division, let alone her trusted lieutenant. The possibilities swarmed her, creating an almost suffocating atmosphere.

The more she questioned it, the more she wanted him to be there so she could shut out the world and find comfort in his arms. Although he was far from being a gentleman, she quite enjoyed his company. She took pleasure in watching his eyes as he studied her before darting to the next thing that snagged his interest. The only down side was the drastic, and sudden, changes in his usual behavioral patterns, causing a bit of a stir among the researchers of his division.

As the silence of dusk crept through her window, she smiled, setting aside her paperwork. Discovered or not, she doubted it would be an easy task to let go.

I'm just throwing a lot of these oneshots out as the ideas hit me. Quite the productive way to start the evening.
