For Ben
How exactly he got this way
Well, the world may never know
But I think it started with the loss of his mother
Forty-six years ago
His father wasn't ever really a father at all
This "father" of his just filled his head with the same lie -
"You'll never amount to anything"
So one day he walked away without a goodbye
He'd never been loved
Never felt love
Because they all said "you're not any good."
But honestly, his biggest problem
Was that he was misunderstood
So he turned to the only thing left
A violent rise to power
But a few words ("what about me" - "what about you?")
Made it all fall through in the darkest hour
He may never be perfect
None of us are
But there's always hope somewhere
And real love doesn't require you to have no scars
But he'd never been loved
Never felt love
Because they all said "You're not any good."
But honestly, his biggest problem
Was that he was misunderstood
