Vio: Here's a little one-shot for Brick after Blossom's death in Protector.
Song: Broken by Seether & Amy Lee.
I own neither the song nor the characters from ppg!
Broken
She couldn't be gone.
His Blossom couldn't be dead – no one found her body so she must be alive...right?
I wanted you to know that I love the way you laugh
I want to hold you high and steal your pain away
I want to keep your photograph, and I know it serves me well
I want to hold you high and steal your pain
She smiled at him before the explosion happened.
She fucking smiled.
Why?
Tears rolled down his cheeks as he struggled to breathe. His fingers were digging into his chest where his heart was.
Maybe he could rip it out.
No matter how hard he tried to forget – he couldn't.
She wouldn't let him.
He remembered every little detail about her.
The way she smiled so brightly, her beautiful petal eyes, the way her nose would crinkle after he told a horrible joke, those few little freckles that decorated her cheeks, etc.
'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you've gone away
You've gone away...
You don't feel me here anymore
The stars above twinkled and sparkled so damn bright.
It shouldn't be a clear night where the stars shine – it should be cloudy and raining, maybe even storming.
He wanted the skies to cry for her.
He wanted the rain to wash his tears away.
He wanted many things, but the one person he wanted was never coming back to him.
The worst is over now, and we can breathe again
I want to hold you high, and steal my pain away
There's so much left to learn, and no one left to fight
I want to hold you high and steal your pain
"Ah, c'mon Brick," the pink puff whined with a pout, her plump lower lip sticking out, "it's just the science fair – it won't kill you to come."
He sneered in disgust at the mention, eyeing her lips for a split second, "I'll die of boredom in there, so no way in hell!"
"Please?" Cue puppy-dog eyes and she stuck out her lip even further.
"I'm gonna regret this – UGH! – fine, I'll come with you."
"Yay!" She cheered but stopped as he held up his hand.
"But! You gotta do a favor for me later, 'kay?"
She smiled widely, "Of course!"
'Cause I'm broken when I'm open
And I don't feel like I am strong enough
'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away
"Here." He shoved the book into Blossom's arms with a snarl.
"Brick?"
"I'm sorry for ruining the other one, so I bought a copy to replace it."
Wide, pink orbs blink in astonishment before a soft smile spreads across her lips, "Brick?"
He grunted, "What?"
"Thank you."
"Y-you're welcome."
'Cause I'm broken when I'm open
And I don't feel like I am strong enough
'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away
Memories flashed through his mind one-by-one, making him numb. He fell to his knees, his head hitting the concrete of the building.
He ignored the wet feeling.
Maybe it would kill him.
He was of no use to this world anymore – his very reason for existing was gone and never coming back.
Dull crimson orbs stare blankly up into the darkening sky.
He could still remember her last word.
"Goodbye."
She was gone.
She was gone.
She was gone...gone...gone...gone...gonegonegoneGONEGONEGONEGONEGONEGONE!
He screamed.
'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away
You've gone away...
You don't feel me here anymore...
Like it? Hate it? Let me know.
Poor Brick, my little pyro. T-T
