Jun's Poem
Mr. Uematsu looked at Jun's raised hand and nodded to her. "Alright Ms. Honime. You may read your poem."
She stood up and grabbed the upside-down piece of paper she would not let me read and held it in front of her, flashing me a small smile. I blushed and turned in my seat towards her.
She cleared her throat and began reading.
"The moment I saw you I knew
That my search for the one was through.
I set my eyes upon your indigo hair,
I couldn't take my eyes off, I began to stare.
Your sweet tender smile is lovely
And your luscious kiss tastes like honey.
Your deep blue eyes are the sky at night,
So dark, so sparkly, and always full of life.
Your embrace feels like a warm blanket on a winter's night,
Whenever I look at you, I'd almost swear you were my holy knight.
Your arms, eyes, hair, kiss, smile, and touch,
Is what makes me love you so much.
Aishiteru, Watashi no Jyou-kun." My mouth fell open at her last words and I could feel my cheeks burning feverishly.
Mr. Uematsu applauded her performance as she sat down. "That was very nice, Ms. Honime."
"Thank you Uematsu-senpai." She said with her beautiful smile.
I stared at her for a few minutes and then decided we had to talk after school.
After the last horrific bell rang, announcing our short weekend, I grabbed my shoes and put them on as fast as I could. I burst out of the doors to see Jun walking and laughing with some of her friends. I raced down the steps to catch up with them and heard her say, "Oh, my boyfriend's coming. I'll catch up with you guys later!"
As I approached her, I watched her friends' leave and giggle. I greeted Jun with a kiss on the cheek. She looked up at me and hugged my tightly, almost so that I couldn't breathe. "Hey Jun." I said to her and ran my fingers through her short violet hair.
She leaned up and gave me a small kiss on my lips. "Hey Joe."
I grabbed her hand and began walking away from the school along the paved path toward our apartments. "So... about that poem you read in English today."
She flushed and turned her head away from me. "You didn't like it, did you?"
I looked at her, astonished. "Are you kidding? I loved it! It was the single best piece of poetry I'd ever heard!"
"You're just saying that."
I stopped walking and turned to her, bringing up her face with my index finger. "No I'm not, Jun." I said to her, staring into her beautiful emerald eyes. "I mean it. With all my heart and more."
She gave me one of her sweetest smiles and hugged me again. "I'm so thankful to have you, Jyou-kun."
I kissed the top of her head and looked at the setting sun for a moment and then hugged her back, just as tightly as she was hugging me. "And I you, my dear, sweet Jun-chan. I love you."
"I love you too."
We stood there for over an hour, not saying anything, not doing anything, just holding each other. I must say, it was one of the best hours of my life, breathing in her sweet scent and holding her close to my heart, where she will be for all time.
I finally looked down at her and pressed my glasses back up my nose bridge. "Did you actually mean everything you said in your poem?"
She smiled at me and gave me a small, tender kiss. "Every word."
Okay, just in case you're wondering. That little segment is from another story that I'm working on. Called "The Man Behind the Glasses". As if you couldn't tell, this story is from Joe's POV. And no, the Jun mentioned in here is NOT Jun Motomiya. This Jun is a character that I made all on my own, she falls in love with Joe and- oops! Dun want to give it away! Oh yeah, I also don't own Digimon. The only things I own are the text, Jun, and Mr. Uematsu.
