Prologue

A cat padded forward, entering in a small opening between the roots of a large, muddied tree. Behind her loomed a cave, big and hollow.

The cat was sleek, her fur shimmering in the moonlight. The cat's pelt was black, with a small, white dash on her chest, a white-tipped tail, and white paws. She had emerald green eyes, like a deep green leaf.

When the she-cat was at the far side of the opening, she turned toward the mouth of the cave, and sat down. She blinked at the slightly darker shape at the mouth of the cave.

"You wished to speak with me, Dawnleaf," The she-cat meowed, curling her tail around her white paws.

The shape didn't move at first, but then the she-cat emerged when the black she-cat lashed her tail. The she-cat was a star-speckled light brown tabby with white paws and a white chest. She had longer fur than the fur of the black cat, and she was slightly larger. Her warm, blue eyes shimmered beneath the moonlight.

Dawnleaf dipped her head, her blue gaze meeting the green gaze of the other she-cat. "Ravenwing."

She padded toward her, starlight sparkling. Dawnleaf slipped between the large roots, entering the small opening, and sat down a few tail lengths away from Ravenwing.

Ravenwing watched as Dawnleaf flicked her tail at her. "You have taken care of LeafClan very well, but you can't protect your Clanmates any longer."

Ravenwing blinked in shock and horror. "What do you mean?" She asked, ears flattening.

Dawnleaf leaned closer. "Listen to me very well, Ravenwing," She mewed, sounding reverent. Her tabby pelt rippled as she settled back down.

"The darkness is rising, and blood will be spilled. Only the wisest has the power to stop the darkness."

Ravenwing frowned. "Can you tell me more?"

Dawnleaf shook her head. "That is all I can say," She mewed, springing up to her paws. The she-cat turned away, but she turned her head to glance sideways at Ravenwing. "But beware, he has risen! He will destroy all!"

Ravenwing was desperate to find out who she was talking about but she knew she couldn't get anymore information from her mentor. She won't know much about this prophecy either.

Ravenwing bowed her head. "Farewell, Dawnleaf."

"Farewell, Ravenwing."

Then the world went dark.

"Ravenwing!"

Ravenwing jolted awake, to find her shoulder being tugged by her apprentice, Petalpaw. She sprang up to her paws, and looked down at the small tortoishell she-cat.

This must be urgent!

"What is it?" She asked, meeting Petalpaw's worried gaze.

Petalpaw turned her gaze toward the exit of the medicine den, staring at the clearing.

"It's Moonpelt," She answered, her paws trembling as she turned back to Ravenwing. "She and the sunhigh patrol were attacked by rogues. Moonpelt is covered in wounds and blood!"

Ravenwing nodded, suddenly serious. "Gather cobwebs," She ordered. "And make sure no else is hurt badly."

The apprentice nodded and darted toward the corner of the medicine den, where they stored cobwebs, and grabbed a pawful of cobwebs. She dashed out the den while Ravenwing grabbed marigold, goldenrod, and horsetail. She darted after Petalpaw, smelling the awful scent of fresh blood. Ravenwing suddenly remembered the prophecy.

"Darkness is rising, and blood will be spilled. Only the wisest has the power to stop the darkness."

Ravenwing narrowed her eyes. Darkness is rising, and only the wisest cat can save the Clans. I have to look for this wise cat, or the darkness will end us all.

Well, we just found out that darkness is rising and only the wisest cat can stop it. And a short chapter, sorry.
