The Doctor begins to act strangely and starts to look for Faction Paradox in the forbidden places. He leaves Amy and Rory on Dust a planet with a bigger destiny than its name suggests, just as they give up on the Doctor his fourth incarnation arrives with Adric. The younger incarnation takes them to Gallifrey to see the future Romana III to inquire about the cult.
They arrive at the scene of the ceremony too late the Doctor has lost his shadow and is part of the Faction Paradox.
