Just something I threw together from a writing style we worked on in class. Eh, not as great as I hoped. Read and review, por favor!

EDIT: I'm kind of an idiot and I said this story was a Hotch/Prentiss pairing when it's really Morgan/Prentiss. HA! I'm sorry! D: Thanks to Ramona for pointing that out to me. :)

Reid didn't notice anything. There wasn't even much to notice. Morgan and Prentiss were just two co-workers. It never even crossed his mind that Derek Morgan and Emily Prentiss could even be more than friends.

Reid didn't notice anything big. Sure, they liked to annoy each other, but hey, everyone on the team bugged each other every once in a while. They were just friends.

Reid noticed a few small things. Like when Morgan and Prentiss bugged each other more often and sometimes even flirted. They definitely bantered more with each other than with any other team members. But they were just probably getting to be close friends. No big deal.

Reid noticed a lot of things. Which was a big deal, since Reid was...well, Reid. Reid was a genius and a profiler, but anything that had to do with relationships was unknown territory for him. So, when he noticed the way Morgan and Prentiss sat next to each other when the team went out to eat and the tiny secretive smiles the two shared when they thought nobody was looking, he figured maybe something was up. He didn't know what, but he was going to figure it out.

Reid was suspicious. He thought he figured out what was up. He saw the way Derek looked at Emily. He liked her. And by the shy smile and occasional wink Emily gave him when she noticed him staring, she liked him back.

Reid was really suspicious. So suspicious, in fact, he had a theory that Morgan and Prentiss were dating. They way they always hurried out of the BAU together on Fridays, how Emily always became gruff when other girls batted their eyes at Morgan and the protectiveness that Morgan had over Emily whenever she got the least bit injured were all proof. Reid was sure he was on to something.

Reid's suspicions were confirmed. When Morgan and Prentiss both ran into the bullpen almost an hour late one morning, both frazzled and wearing clothes from the day before, everyone knew. They explained and Hotch allowed it, with the vow from both of them to keep things professional. Reid knew Hotch thought it wouldn't last. Knowing Morgan, Reid didn't think it would either.

Reid was wrong. Reid knew that plenty of couples stayed together for lots of months and even years. So, when Morgan told Reid it was his and Prentiss's first Anniversary, Reid was happy for them, but stuck to his theory that they wouldn't last.

Reid was really wrong. When Emily handed Reid the wedding invitation, a bright stone gleaming on her left hand, Reid was surprised but overall very happy for two of his closest friends.

Reid thought. He thought about everything. He thought as he stood with Hotch and Rossi next to Morgan at the wedding. He thought as he watched JJ and Penelope make their way down the aisle in matching bridesmaid dresses. He thought as we watched Emily, beautiful as ever, make her way down the aisle, accompanied by her father. He thought as he made his best man speech. He just couldn't figure everything out.

Finally, Reid concluded. Love was amazing. It was found in the oddest of places and could do magical things. It could make the girl with the mystery personal life open up. It could make the player quit playing the field. It could make two individuals with trust issues trust each other with their hearts. It couldn't be controlled. It just happened. There were no formulas or predictions or theories to help understand how it truly worked. And last, Reid concluded, that love was something he would never understand.
