Timeframe: some 3 cycles after BT
Spoilers: Just a little bit for ComicCon 2004
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the Farscape characters, nor do I make money with this.
Feedback: very much appreciated.
Notes: Un-beta'ed so all mistakes are entirely my own. You can blame this entirely on the fact that I'm utterly and completely stuck with Duped. This little thing just popped in my head and it wouldn't leave so I decided to write it down (seems to be the best way to get rid of it again).
"You really should have done this sooner, John," Aeryn said. "This bucket of dren is almost falling apart."
"Aer, as I've said before, this is not a bucket of dren," John responded.
"Yes, I know, this is 'state of the art', Earth's finest technological achievement. I still think this is a bucket of dren."
"Well, this 'bucket of dren' is much more maneuverable in atmosphere than a prowler and it is still space worthy after seven cycles, whereas your precious prowler had to be replaced over two cycles ago."
"And whose fault was that," she asked. "I seem to recall a very nosy 'Erpman' poking around in the engine compartment, after he had taken most of the hull apart."
"Yes, because you said you heard a strange noise the last time you flew in it. I was only trying being helpful." John knew Aeryn was just teasing him and he had to tease her back. He loved that his wife was able to joke with him. "Besides, I did get you a brand new prowler."
"True, and that is the only reason I have not kicked your eema. Now help me with getting this component in the right spot. From here I can not see where I have to insert it." She put her hand, containing a small component, into a small opening into the side of the Farscape 1 module.
"Sure, let me get a good look," John answered as he bent over into the module's cockpit. "All right, I can see your hand. Just move it ten denches to your left and you can insert it into its slot. Careful, 'cause it's fairly close to the power core."
"I know. Ten denches, right?"
"No, left," John answered with a grin, even though she couldn't see it.
Aeryn, having learned the double meaning of the word 'right' many cycles ago, just rolled her eyes and moved her hand to insert the component into its proper place. "Frell," she exclaimed as the component got into contact with the power core, giving her a mild shock.
"Aer, you all right," John asked, not a little concerned as he got back up. He was standing next to her before she could respond.
"I am fine," she said.
"Damn, Aer, I told you to move ten denches, you hardly moved five. Why the frell did you do that?"
"Well, I was taught that when it comes to sizes, men always exaggerate."
"And look what that common misconception has gotten you," John said with a smile, "a first degree burn."
