Kayley let out a sigh of relief, pushing a few strands of her chocolate brown hair behind her ear and shoving her pitchfork into the muddy earth beside her. Normally she and Garrett basically lived in the Forbidden Forest, since he was more aware of his surroundings there, but her mother was ill so she volunteered to take care of her and the farm until she got better. Garrett said he would be fine with Ayden as his eyes for a while, so she reluctantly went to help. She missed him terribly and it tore her up inside not to see him, but she believed she would see him soon. After all, it would only be a few days right? Wrong. It was as if her mother was under a spell. It had been a week and a half and the woman still wasn't better. Frowning, she gazed into the sunset and turned to walk into the house. She walked up the stairs, coming to a decision. She was going to go to Camelot and request a doctor look at her.
Arriving at her mother's room, she opened the door quietly. Taking small steps, she walked over to the bed, gently shaking her to wake her up. Deepening her frown, she found that she was out cold, so she picked her up bridal style and made her way out of the house and into the stables. She sighed, gently putting her mother over a horse, securing her, and getting on, she grabbed the reins.
"Hyah!"
The horse started to gallop down the dirt path, kicking up dirt as it trotted. As they galloped away, she squinted through the darkness down the road, and widened her eyes at the sight. There were armed men blocking the main road to Camelot. Raising an eyebrow she frowned, stopping the horse in front of them. These men were not knights for sure.
"What be your name miss?"
One of them said in a deep voice. Kayley had a bad feeling about this. She was reluctant to give them her name, but she stood her ground.
"Lady Kayley, knight of the round table."
They looked at eachother and smirked, making her and the horse back away slowly. As the men dressed in black began to walk towards her, her horse galloped on her orders towards the forbidden forest. However, when they got there, the horse was scared and threw her off, running back the other direction. She widened her eyes in horror. Her mother was on that horse! And it was galloping towards those men. Quickly getting up, she saw that on of the men had taken her mother, and the other had gotten others and began running after her. Gasping, she ran as fast as her legs could take her, tripping over various things as the men began to gain on her fast. Suddenly, they got to a dense part of the forest, and she hid behind a tree, hearing them slow down and listen for her. She tried to hold back her shallow breathing, but one of them popped up in front of her making her scream and fall backwords, supporting herself with her elbows. They surronded her and the main one pulled out a sword and was about to strike, when he was suddenly interupted making Kayley gasp.
