Sirena sat in under the tree with her best friend Jane, the sunlight slipping through the spaces of the leaves onto her face. Her head was laid back on her book bag as she watched the clouds roll by lazy across the sky. Jane was sitting beside her, absent-mindedly playing with a snitch as she looked out onto the calm water of the black lake. The grounds were filled with other students who happened to have a free period like them. Some were laughing on the courtyard and some were lying out in the open field. Pat and Remi weren't so lucky and we're stuck in Herbology down at the greenhouses. The girls were enjoying the freedom as well but we're slowly being overcome by a sense of boredom. Though Sirena and Jane were close, they never felt quite whole without all of their team.

There was some lively chatter to their right and the girls looked to see Liam walking with some other Gryffindor boys. Jane smirked while Sirena rolled her eyes. Jane called out, "Evans! Fancy seeing you here on this fine Tuesday afternoon."

Liam turned at the sound, and his emerald eyes hardened as his gaze fell on the smiling Jane and the lazy Sirena. He scowled and said, "Just stay away from me today, Potter. I'm not in the mood for any of your tricks."

Jane feigned hurt and held her hands over her heart, "Tricks? I can't believe you would think so horribly of me, Liam. Allow me to make it up to you by taking you to dinner tonight."

Liam fumed as his friends laughed as his red face. Jane had been trying to get Liam to date her from the moment she saw him in first year and each interaction was funnier than the last. "I'll give you two choices, Potter. Either you leave me alone for good, or I hex you and you leave me alone for good." Liam warned.

Sirena chuckled lowly at the threat. Jane pouted, "Those aren't very good choices, Evans. I prefer mine. C'mon, dinner in the Great Hall on me."

Liam just growled and said, "I don't have time for this. Goodbye, Jane."

He turned around, his friends still laughing at him. Jane shouted out, "My offer still stands."

Jane puffed out her chest and Sirena looked at her friend oddly. With a raised eyebrow, she asked, "What are you so proud about? He turned you down again."

Jane smirked and said, "Yes, but he called me 'Jane'. That's the second time yet. My seven-year plan is working."

Sirena laughed and pushed Jane, deflating the air in her chest. "Now if only your ears were, then you'd realize that it's actually not."

Jane laid back on the grass with Sirena, tossing the glittering snitch into the air. "Just give it time, Siri. I still got two more years."
