Sorry this story serves no real purpose. It's just what I imagine Lily's room to look like.

Lily's Room

By running out of ink

Her bedroom at home was always incredibly messy and her father would joke that a tornado must have come through it. On the wall opposite the door were two small windows. The farthest had a set of dusty blinds covering the glass; the other was covered in magazine cutouts, used in place of blinds that had long since fallen down. The rest of the room contained countless amounts of knick-knacks, all placed strategically on top of the furniture.

On the dresser by the door there were photographs in golden frames dancing about: a boy with messy black hair and glasses winking at the camera and laughing; that same boy, along with three others, tipping their mugs at the camera and grinning; and her family, unmoving, on the porch of their home. In front of these pictures a hairbrush, lipstick, and gold locket with a picture of her and her sister as toddlers.

Her desk, stationed under the uncovered window (to let in the most light,) had stacks of parchment sitting precariously close to the edge. On top of the pile, a bottle of ink and a quill. There was a small lamp, painted amateurishly with red and gold and a shiny badge that reads "Head Girl" at the base. There were candy wrappers, owl treats, some silver coins, and a postcard, all of which appeared to have been thrown onto the desk last minute. On her desk chair there was a stack of freshly washed clothes- a white blouse, black robe, and crimson and gold tie- folded neatly on the cushion.

On the wall next to the desk there was a bookshelf, the shelves bending from the weight of numerous volumes lined up, but while the top two shelves were filled with books, the bottom was saved especially for records and magazines. In the middle of the room there was a rug, green and white, with bits of nail polish forever staining its threads. Sitting on that rug, leaning against a small, cozy looking bed, was Lily Evans. Her hair, a dark red, was falling into her eyes as she tried to focus on the art of painting her toe nails- a light yellow to go along with her white sundress.

He knocked, rather than spoke, and Lily looked up, her green eyes full of excitement. There was that familiar head of messy black hair, those same glasses her had worn for years and that lopsided grin she had come to love so much. Today he was dressed in a pair of khaki trousers, with a blue t-shirt and brown sneakers. Today they were Hogwarts Graduates and today was the first day James Potter was going to meet Lily's parents. Lily smiled at James, and stood to greet him. She gave him a kiss, soft and sweet, on the lips and beckoned him to sit down while waiting for her nails to dry. James sat on the bed, admired the floral bedspread and took in the rest of the room. He smiled at the picture of himself and commented, saying he didn't remember her taking that picture. Lily blushed slightly, and said that she had borrowed it from one of James's friends- Sirius Black.

They talked for a few more minutes- Lily wanted to be positive her nails were dry- and then proceeded down stairs to the kitchen where the Evans family was enjoying tea. James and Lily took their seats, James across from Mr. Evans, and Lily across from Mrs. Evans. Petunia and her fiancé sat at the heads of the table, frowning disapprovingly. The afternoon went brilliantly; Lily's parents welcomed James whole-heartedly. Before too long, they were acting as if they had known James their entire lives. Petunia and her fiancé, Vernon Dursley, gave each other looks, and soon excused themselves from the table, claiming to have wedding plans to attend to.
