Mutant Murphy

By Maggeh;;

Murphy was a mutant. "I'm not a mutant!" the donkey-dragon mix insisted. "Yes, you are," replied Shrek. "You're a freaky little mutant! Now get out of my swamp!" Murphy's ears drooped. He walked, whimpering, out of Shrek's muddy swamp. The dirt around it was moist from the rain, and Murphy's hooves sunk into it. So he beat his little dragon wings and flew around Shrek's swamp, then back to his father, Donkey. Donkey was riding cheerfully on dragon. Murphy flew up to join them.

"Hey, dad? Am I a mutant?" Murphy asked. Donkey laughed. "What? Of course you're a mutant!" The little donkey-dragon mix sighed. "But I don't want to be a mutant." Dragon turned her head and licked her son's ear. She made a growling sound. "I know I'm supposed to be who I am," Murphy replied, "But what if I don't like how I am?" Dragon made another growling sound, which meant, "You is the best you can be." Murphy smiled up at his mother and said, "I'll think about that. Well, for now, where's Puss?"

"He's at Fiona's. That Princess is holding a big party there! There's Captain Hook, Gingy, The Three Blind Mice, Pinocchio... And Puss." Fiona's was a big café that Fiona had recently started. It was going really well. "Ok. See you later, dad." Murphy beat his little wings and flew away from his parents. He flew o'er the huge pines, around Boulder Lake, between The Gaping Jaw Ridges, and landed in front of Fiona's. Murphy used his secret entryway to get in; the chimney. He landed in a burning fire, but it didn't matter; He was Dragon's son, and was immune to fire. The mixed creature hopped out of the fireplace and walked around some tables to Fiona, who was standing behind a big counter, chatting with Captain Hook. "Hey, Fiona. Where's Puss?" Murphy asked, hopping onto the counter. "Oh, hi, Murphy. Puss is over by that big green sofa. I think he's talking with The Blind Mice." Fiona continued her conversation with Captain Hook. Murphy thanked her and went over to Puss. He had just shooed the mice away, threatening to eat them. "Hi, Puss," Murphy said. "Oh, hola, amigo," the cat replied. "Que pasa?" Murphy stared. "What's up?" Puss rephrased in English. "Well, see.." The dragon-donkey paused. "Everyone calls me a mutant, but I don't want to be a mutant." Puss considered that. "Well, amigo... Maybe I can let you borrow my boots. Then you'd look much better!" Murphy glared at him, and flew out, groaning.

Murphy... was a mutant.
