Nights
Harry always loved nights. It was always the end and the beginning; the end to a stressful day, yet the beginning of a new on which brought new possibilities. He also loved nights because they were the one time he could be with the love of his life, his husband, Draco Malfoy.
Harry loved climbing into his warm bed and into Draco's arms. He always loved the warmth and love he felt each night, and he never tired of it after all the years of neglect. The nights were when Harry felt happiest.
He didn't know why, but there was always something about nighttime that seemed so calm and serene. Maybe it was the stars, maybe just the cool darkness. Maybe that he was with his Draco. Maybe that they would have their first child soon. For the moment, that night, everything was perfect. The planets had aligned, there were no evil threats hanging over everyone's head.
Harry breathed in deeply, breathing in Draco's scent. It was still intoxicating even after all these years.
"What's the matter, love?" Draco asked, concern slightly evident in his voice.
"Nothing, just thinking about how good everything is right now."
"Oh," Draco replied flatly. "I thought your day was pretty shitty though."
"Yes, but even if my day is shitty it always ends all right." Harry kissed Draco lightly on the cheek.
"You know, you're right Harry. The day always does end good. But, it could always end better." Draco waggled his eyebrows suggestively.
Harry half laughed, half snorted. "You really know how to ruin a moment, don't you?"
"You betcha!" Draco winked.
"Well, goodnight." Harry kissed Draco again and with a flick of his wand, doused the lights.
"I wasn't kidding you know," Draco said into the darkness after a few minutes. Harry didn't hear him for he was already asleep.
