It was a beautiful new day in Possum Springs, and autumn was coming to an end once again. It has been two years since that night where the cult got trapped in the mine. Mae was getting dressed for her job at Taco Buck. She was a waiter there, she didn't really like working but the employee discount helped. Mae had been working there technically since it opened. It was about seven. Mae hated getting up this early, but she'd gotten used to it. As she was finishing up her computer went off. She looked over at it and notice she had received a message from Gregg
"Hey duder, what you up to?" Gregg Typed.
"Hey dude, I'm just getting ready for work." Mae replied.
"Aye me too, but I'm just letting you know we got band practice today."
"Alright my shift ends around four, so I'll be there around that time."
"Ok then I'll see you then."
"Ok see you at band practice." Mae said.
"See ya." Gregg said signing off.
Mae grabbed her black apron with the Taco Buck logo on it and tied it around her waist. After she was fully dressed she began to walk down the stairs into the hallway. Mae walked into the kitchen and sat on the counter.
"Hey mom."
"Hey kitten." Candy said looking up from her book. "Are you off to work?"
"Yeah, just came to say hi before I leave"
"Ok, are you coming home after work?"
"No, I'm going to band practice after, then I'll probably come home."
"Oh ok, well if you're in the neighborhood you should stop by the church. Also, be sure to be home for dinner."
"Okay I will, bye mom I'm going to work." Mae said hopping off the counter.
"Bye sweetie."
Mae grabbed her jacket and stepped outside. The cold air hit Mae in the face like a pack of ice. Winter was almost here, and you could tell. Mae began walking along the sidewalk greeting and saying hi to everyone she saw. While she was walking she spotted Bea opening up the Ol' Pickaxe.
"Hey there Bea Bea." Mae said waving at her friend.
"Hey there Mae." Bea said putting her key in and unlocking the store. About a year after the incident with the cult, Bae's dad just kind of got up and walked out the door without saying a word or telling anyone where he was going. Since he was gone Bea got ownership of the store.
"Hey." Mae said back.
Bea looked over at her feline friend. "Are you going to work?"
"Yeah just stopping by to say hi to my best friend."
"Oh."
"Yep, so what are you doing?"
"I'm opening up my store." Bea said.
"Oh yeah, silly me."
"Aren't you supposed to be getting to work?" Bea Asked.
Yeah, but its fine I still have, FIVE MINUTES!" Mae Screamed looking at her watch. "Sorry Bea I got to go, see you at band practice! Mae said taking off towards the direction of Taco Buck.
Bea chuckled a little as she watched Mae running off. "That girl." Bea said to herself as she walked into the store.
Mae walked through the front door of her work, after she checked in she began taking peoples orders and bringing them their food. About nine went by while she did this and it was almost time for Mae to check out. As Mae got done with her last table Gregg came through the door.
"Mae." Gregg Said Waving both his arms in the air.
"Gregg." Mae replied putting both her arms in the air.
"Is your shift over?" Gregg asked.
"Yeah, it just ended."
"Yay"
"Yay" Mae said back.
"Does that mean your ready for band practice."
"Yeah, I just need to go home and change out of my work clothes."
"Ok well I need to get the band together, and Bea will have to get her laptop anyways. So that should give you plenty of time to run home and change."
"Ok, well then I'll see there." Mae said waving goodbye.
"Ok see there." Gregg said as he waved back.
Thirty minutes passed as Mae went home, Changed, and made her way to the barn that they played in. As Mae entered the barn Bae was just getting set up on her computer, and Gregg and Angus Were talking to each other.
"Alright guys I'm here what are we playing?" Mae asked grabbing her bass.
"Were playing Another Night" Gregg Said.
Uh I don't know that song." Mea groaned.
"You'll do fine." Gregg Said.
A Few hours went by as the gang rehearsed the song.
"Wow that was..."
"It was horrible is what that was." Bea Said finishing Greggs sentence.
"I told you I don't know the song." Mae said embarrassed.
After that everyone began putting their instruments away. Just as Mae got done she saw Bea exit the barn.
"Bea, Wait up" Mae said
"What's up Mae?" Bea asked turning to look at the cat.
"Oh well um, I was wondering if you maybe wanted to spend the night over at my house tonight?" Mae said.
Bea Looked at her for a minute. "What like a sleepover?" Bea questioned.
"Yeah, I guess you could put it that way."
"Um, I don't know Mae I've never been one for sleepovers."
"C'mon Bea Bea I'm tired of you always spending your nights alone." Mae said
"Well maybe I like being alone, ever think of that?"
"Do you?"
"...Not really."
"Then come on Bea, we'll have fun." Mae Said urging her to do it.
"I don't know Mae."
"But Bea were having spaghetti tonight, you like spaghetti."
"I do like spaghetti." Bea Said.
"Then come oooon." Mae pleaded.
Bea started to smile "fine, I'll spend the night at your house." Bea said chuckling.
"Woohoo, sleepover!" Mae Exclaimed. "Come on Bea Bea sleepover woo!"
"Woo." Bea said unenthusiastically."
"Oh c'mon Bea you can do better than that. Mae criticized. "See like this, SLEEPOVER WOO!" Mae exclaimed.
"Sleepover woooo!" Bea said.
"Yay that's the spirit Beatrice, woooo!"
"Annnnd here we are, Bea welcome to my humble abode." Mae said referring to her house.
"Actually, its your parents humble abode" Bea corrected her.
"Shut up." Mae said jokingly. "Mom, dad I'm Home."
"Were in the kitchen dear." Candy said.
Mae and Bea walked into the kitchen and greeted Mae's parents. "Hi mom, hi dad." Mae said getting up on the counter.
"Hey Hun" Candy said checking the noodles
"Hey kitten." Mae's dad said setting the table. He looked backed and saw Bea. "Oh, hey Bea"
"Hey Mr. and Mrs. Borowski." Bea replied.
"Oh yeah, Bea is spending the night if that's ok." Mae said pushing her fingers together.
"Oh its fine kitten, but dinner won't be done for a few minutes. You girls can go sit on the couch if you want to." Mae's father offered, gesturing towards the living room.
The two girls walked into the living room and sat down. "So your kitten huh." Bea said chuckling a little.
"It's just a name my parents call me. So anyways how are things, I haven't actually talked to you in a few days."
"Same old same old I guess. I go to work sort nails go off and repair pipes."
"Wow, you really need some excitement in your life Bea."
What do you mean sorting nails has been the funnest thing I've ever done. Bea said sarcastically.
"Really, your weird." Mae said.
"Mae I was being sarcastic."
"Oh, sorry. So what is the funnest thing you ever did?" Mae asked.
"I don't know, going to the mall with you that one time, I guess that was fun.
"Awwww, you like spending time with your best friend." Mae said gushing.
"Sure. Bea said rolling her eyes.
You know, you should just blow up my work. Bea said half joking.
"Ok I can do that yeah. I can get some dynamite from Germ and then we could get the insurance money and no one would know it was me cause I have no motive." Mae said rubbing her chin. "Yeah, yeah this could work."
"No Mae I was joking."
"Are you sure? It would be an easy job."
"Yes Mae I don't want you going to jail."
"Eff the police."
"Isn't your aunt a cop?" Bea asked.
"Yeah, aunt mall cop."
"I never understood why you call her that."
"I call her that because mall cops are the worst kind of cops." Mae said.
"Dang, you do not like your aunt."
"No I do not."
Hey ladies, sorry to interrupt, but dinner is done. Mae's dad said, peeking his head around the corner.
"Alright thanks dad." Mae said, as the two girls got up and walked into the kitchen. Where their were four plates set with spaghetti. Everyone sat down and started eating. Everyone had a conversation about how their jobs were going, and just how life was going in general. Around twenty minutes later everyone was beginning to finish up.
"Hey, thanks for dinner Mr. and Mrs. Borowski." Bea said.
No problem Bea, it was nice having you over. Mae's dad said.
"Yeah it has been a while since we seen you, it was nice catching up with you." Candy said.
"Well thanks for having me over."
"It was no problem at all, your always welcome in this house." Candy said, giving a warm smile.
After dinner Mae and Bea went up to Mae's room. Bea collapsed on Mae's bed. "Hey Mae, thanks for this. I haven't actually had a real meal In a while." Bea said.
"Hey what are friends for."
Bea sighed. "I wish I could move from this town, you know. Like the people are nice, but this place kinda sucks.
", this place does suck." said taking a seat on the bed, when a sudden realization her. "Hey why don't we move."
"Mae, as much as I would love that I don't have the money to move."
"Well maybe not on your own, but I've been saving the money I been getting from working at Taco Buck for the past two years. Not to mention you probably got some money laying around. If we combine our money we could find like a decent apartment for the both of us."
Bea thought about it for a second. "Where would we even go?
Mae thought about it for a second. "Hey, we could move to Falconwall. Gregg and Angus are moving there together next week, and if we start planning now we could be out of here in like a month or two. We could surprise them with the move, and the whole gang could be back together before you know it." Mae said, getting all excited.
"I mean, I guess it could work." Bea putting the plan together in her head.
Yeah Bea, it could be just like a fresh start.
Bea started to smile at the thought of actually getting out of this town. "Yeah, a fresh start.
