This is my first Pokemon fanfic! I,m a bit nervous, but I hope I'll do well! I've wanting to do this for quite some time now.

Enjoy ;)

"Alex! Wake up!" Alex's mom called from the lower floor. "Breakfast's ready!"

"Just a few minutes more, mom!" Alex groaned and putted his pillow over his head, not wanting to wake up.

"As you wish! But don't come complain, when you'll be too late to catch your Pokemon!" She replied with a giggle.

Alex's eyes shot wide open in pure shock. He completely forgot! Today was the day he would officially start his path as a Pokemon trainer and he needed to go get his first Pokemon at Professor Birch's lab!

Not waisting another second and forgetting the tiredness in his whole body, he immediately ran downstairs to eat his mom's breakfast which consisted of eggs and bacon before going back upstairs and change his clothes in the bathroom. After he was done changing, he took a moment to admire himself in the mirror before going to take away his pajamas.

A young 15-year old boy with messy brown hair and deep blue eyes. His face immediately gave the idea that he was a nice, soft guy, with his sweet smile and cute little nose. The dress he chose to wear on the occasion of his debut as a Pokemon trainer was a white and red open jacket with an hoodie and a red shirt underneath it, blue jeans with multiple pockets and a belt to hold his soon-to-be Poke-balls, black fingerless gloves, and his trademark white bandana with a blue poke-ball drawing on it which left a tuff of hair come on from the front. He just had to add his running shoes, and he would be completely ready to leave the house.

"You're leaving already?" My mom asked as I rushed at the entrance door.

"Yeah, sorry, mom, your breakfast was delicious, but I have to go there quickly, if I want to get one Pokemon before they all get caught." Alex said and kissed his mother's cheek before running at the door. "I'll present you my Pokemon after I pick him! You'll see, we're gonna be the best of friends! See ya later!" He said and gave an hand wave before exiting the house, leaving his mother to smile at her son's enthusiasm.

Alex have always dreamed to become a Pokemon trainer. You see, as a kid, he would always watch Pokemon matches on TV and it quickly became his passion. He promised himself that, once he would be old enough, he would become a great trainer and go across the whole Hoenn region. Until that day, he studied really hard all the aspects of Pokemons and what a trainer should do. And it all led to this day, the one he was going to get his first Pokemon!

He rushed through the small town of Littleroot, greeting a few habitants on the way, and quickly arrived at the lab of Professor Birch. However, just as he was about to get inside, the door opened alone and came out none other than his old rival, Carter!

A 17-year old man who had some well-developed muscles and squared face. He had short black hair and blue eyes that reflected a big arrogance. His attire consisted of a black and orange sleeveless jacket that was open to reveal a white top, a pair of green jeans with a black belt held by a poke-ball shaped buckle, black fingerless gloves, and a bag resting on his hip with the strap above his shoulder.

He gave a first surprised, then grinning look upon seeing Alex. "Well, well, well, who do we got here, little Alex?"

The reason why they were rivals was that the two boys never really got along and Carter always picked on Alex just because he was older and though it gave him the right to. Which it didn't. He also wanted to become Pokemon master and always putted Alex down to make sure he would be the only one in course. but all those stupidities never affected our hero's determination.

"Carter, what are you doing here? Still asking the professor for candies?" Alex asked with a smirk.

"Not at all!" He said and showed a poke-ball in his hand, causing Alex to give a shocked look which he noticed. "I got my very first Pokemon before you. Feeling jealous?" He snickered.

"Y-You got your first Pokemon?! Who is it?" Alex asked.

"Tss! you really think I'm gonna tell you and let you choose it's weak type? In your dreams." He said and moved past Alex, hitting him with his shoulder in the process. "See ya later; gotta train my boy to take advance on you!"

Alex growled in anger as he looked at his rival walking away. However, he sighed and decided to not let it ruin the day he would become a Pokemon trainer. Turning around, he entered the lab which was filled with all kinds of strange machines used for god-knows-what. In the very back was the Professor Birch, an old man with brown hair and beard dressed in a blue shirt and white professor vest with a brown bag over his shoulder. He seemed to be busy working on some of his machines.

"Come on! Why is it not working?!" He complained just as Alex arrived behind him and made a coughing noise to get his attention which worked. "Oh! Alex, it's you! What are you doing here?" He kindly asked as he turned away from his machine to look at Alex.

"Well, I've come to get my Pokemon; it's today that I start my journey as a Pokemon trainer, remember?" Alex answered.

The professor widened his eyes in shock. "Oh my gosh! It's true; I completely forgot about it! Just a second." He said and ran to his desk and threw various items around before coming back with a wallet which he opened before Alex to reveal it contained three poke-balls. "Those are the last ones I have left, but I'm sure there will be one that you'll like."

Alex nodded and picked the first poke-ball and opened it to reveal a little orange chick-like Pokemon. "Torchic, a fire-type Pokemon." The professor explained as the little Pokemon let out a: "Torchic!"

"My gosh, he's so adorable!" Alex remarked and patted his head, but still decided to open the second one which revealed some kind of green lizard on two legs.

"Treecko, a leaf-style Pokemon." The professor said as the little lizard let out a: "Treecko!"

"He's super-cute too." Alex said before picking the last and releasing a blue mud fish-like Pokemon.

"And Mudkip, a water-type Pokemon." The professor finished as the little fish let out a: "Mudkip!"

It was now time to choose his very first Pokemon friend. Alex rubbed his chin and though about it very hard for a full minute before smiling and snapping his fingers as he finally too a decision.

"I choose...Treecko!" He announced which made the little green Pokemon smile happily while the other two were disappointed.

"Don't worry, you'll have more luck next time." The professor Birch assured as he returned them in their Poke-balls. "So Treecko's your first Pokemon, excellent choice. I'm sure you will become good friends." He said and then handed a few more items to Alex. "Here, those are your Pokedex and your poke-balls. I don't need to explain you what it is; you already know, right?"

Alex nodded with picking his new items and putting them in his inventory. "Thanks, professor." He thanked the old man before allowing Treecko - his first Pokemon and new friend - to jump on his shoulder. "Ready for our journey, Treecko?"

The green lizard let out an enthusiast "Treecko!" before Alex ran out of the lab with him.

It was the start of Alex's journey...
