This is my first Dragon Age fic, so go easy on me. I haven't written in a long time, certainly not angst but I felt the need to write this. I don't know if I should continue or just leave it like that. Should I make a continuation? Let me know and please do review, it helps me out! :)

She knew it wasn't real. She knew she mustn't give in. She knew she should stay strong.

But she couldn't.

No matter how many times she had this nightmare, she always had great struggles, reminding herself that none of it was existent.

This time, it was different.

The demon took his form. His face. His body. His voice. He snarled at her all the accusations she had heard the thousand times she dreamed this but it was worse. His usual gentle and warm voice was dripping with venom and he slowly stalked towards her. She barely registered the dagger in his right hand. Normally she would fight back or force herself awake. This time, she cried. She silently begged him to stop, to forgive her. He kept his pace, ugly words on his lips, predatory gaze in his eyes. She backed away until she hit something. She was openly sobbing now, whispering, "Please, please, Cullen, please." She wanted to defend herself but found no will or determination. There was only fear and anxiety. He closed in on her, the dagger dangerously close to her stomach. His gaze was sharp, accusing, filled with hate. Gone was the lopsided smile he always gave her. Gone were his warm brown eyes, instead replaced with a sickly green color.

"Cullen, please, I love you. Don't, please," she whispered between quiet sobs, wracking her body. In the back of her mind, she knew it was a demon, this was not the man she had grown to love. This was not the man whose face lighted up only at the sight of her leaning against his doorway. This was not the man who told her he loved her every chance he got, just to see her smile and say it back. But all rational thoughts left her when the demon with his face leaned down, just enough so his breath could brush her lips.

"You are a mistake. I should never have trusted you, mage," he spat and Evelyn shook her head and shut her eyes. No, no, this is not him, make it stop, make it stop!

"No. You are not Cullen. Stop this, stop this please!" She meant to shout it at the demon but instead it came out as a hoarse whisper, accompanied by another broken sob. It was more a plead than a command and she hated herself for being so weak. The demon had finally found the person she could not bear to lose. The person who made her feel safe, loved and happy. The person who she cannot kill. Not even in her dreams.

"Look at me!" he shouted and Evelyn immediately opened her eyes. He had moved away slightly but the dagger was still at her stomach. "I want you to look at me as you slowly pay for what you have done."

Evelyn felt more tears stream down her face and she reached out with her hand to touch Cullen's face. Maybe he could snap out of it and he would tell her he loves her. Maybe he will see just how much he means to her…

Instead his expression hardened even more and he buried swiftly the dagger in her stomach and twisted it slowly and painfully. Evelyn cried out in pain and held onto his arm as she started to sink to the ground. He shrugged her hand off quickly and retrieved the dagger from her belly. Evelyn now lay on the ground, feeling the remnants of her life slipping. She reached her hand out to him and whispered, "Cullen…" before he bent down and thrust the dagger into her heart.
