A young woman sat looking out a window. The sky was grey and gloomy, a light drizzle of rain falling from the sky. She sighed deeply; there were no cases to solve, or criminals to bring to justice. All had been peaceful for quite a while. It had been a year since the terrible case of the Death Note. She sighed again, and looked at the computer that was in front of her. There was an empty document. She had nothing to write, to be honest, she had nothing to do here. There wasn't a point in going home, she thought. She'd rather stay here where she had a nice view.
She jumped slightly as the phone next to her rang. She picked it up and answered "Hello? M.R.I Police and Investigation, detective Anna speaking,"
"Hi Anna, this is Aleck," A man replied,
"Oh, hi Aleck," She greeted her old friend warmly,
"I'm calling to tell you Susan's fallen ill," he replied, his tone hinted with sadness and worry,
"That's terrible," she replied, Susan was also their friend; she hadn't been that strong anyway, Anna wasn't surprised.
Suddenly, the phone went blank. Anna suspected Aleck wanted to hurry. She leaned her head back, her short brown hair not moving a large amount. She shook her head to clear her thoughts, shut off her computer and stood up. There wasn't a point in staying there much longer anyway. She left the building hastily, eager to get home and out of the miserable weather.
She walked along with her head down, and she slipped on something and she walked. She looked back to see what it was. There was a note book covered in mud. She picked it up and put it in her bag without thinking twice. She became more and more curious as to what the book was the longer she walked. She felt herself shivering as she thought of the Death Note.
After walking a small bit more, she reached some flats. She let herself in and climbed a set of stairs. 'Room seven' she read aloud as she walked into her flat. She took off her wet jacket and hung it up over the radiator. She placed her bag on the small table in the middle of her living room. She took out the note book and to her surprise it wasn't wet, only muddy. Walking into the kitchen, she wondered still about the note book. Anna took a sponge and wetted slightly, she didn't want to damage the book.
Carefully, the woman wiped the note book. She jumped back and shook her head at what she uncovered. The note book had Life Note written on it in very old-fashioned writing. She wondered if it was a prank, but then she recalled it being dry when she took it out of her bag. She cautiously opened it; on the inside of the cover were 'rules' or 'instructions' on how to use the Life Note.
They read; '1. The human whose name is written in this note, shall be brought back to life, 2. This note shall not effect unless the writer has the person's face in their mind while writing his/her name to prevent the note taking effect on people with the same name, 3. The person must be currently dead for this note to take effect, 4. If in 40 seconds of writing the human's name the writer can specify details of their life up to the 23 day mark, 5. This note shall become property of the human world upon touching the ground, 6. If the human whose name is written has used a Death Note in the past, this note will not take effect, 7. Those who use this note are entitled to a happy afterlife,
She shivered again, this was almost exactly the opposite of the Death Note, in fact in even mentioned it in the rules. What does she do now?
