A/N: Dedicated to ShakespeareIsMyMuse and julieb716 who wanted Bullet to have his very own doggy tac vest. Enjoy!
"For the last time, Danny, your dog is not getting a tac vest!" Lt. Commander Steve McGarrett informed his partner, Detective Danny Williams (okay, maybe it was more like shouted. . .)
"Why not?" Danny asked.
"Because your dog isn't going into combat situations!"
"But the whole point of having him on the team is to pursue suspects. What if one of them is armed?" Danny argued.
Steve opened his mouth to retort, then closed again. Fact was, Danny was right. "Okay, fine. Your dog gets a vest."
"And boots."
"No, no way. I draw the line at boots," Steve said.
"But what if he has to go through glass, or debris?"
"He's not a search and rescue dog. He's not going be going through debris."
"What if he has to go through a window?"
"If he has to go through a window, he's going to have more to worry about that getting glass in his feet," Steve pointed out.
Danny just gave him The Look.
"Okay, fine," Steve conceded. "What else do you want, a little doggy rifle?" he asked snidely.
"No, no, he's afraid of guns."

Danny stood in front of the supply officer, Bullet by his side. "Bet you've never had to outfit a dog before," he said.
"Oh, no, I do it all the time. HPD has several canine units," the officer replied. Now, let's get his measurements."
"Bullet, sit!" Danny commanded.
Bullet bounded over to the officer, put his paws on his shoulders, and licked his face.
The officer wiped his face and laughed. "Friendly one, aren't you?"
"Bullet!" Danny scolded, "That's no way for a trained police dog to behave! Now, sit!"
Bullet obediently sat.
"Good boy," the officer praised him, "but I actually need you standing."
"Oh, sorry," Danny apologized. "Bullet, stand!"
Bullet stood up, then immediately sat down again.
"Bullet, stand!" Danny repeated.
Bullet wagged his tail.
"Come on, you big oaf, stand for the nice officer." More tail wagging. Danny put his hands under Bullet's rear and lifted. As soon as Danny let go, Bullet sat down again.
"Let me try," the officer said. "Bullet, stand!"
Bullet stood.
"Oh, sure," Danny groused, "you'll stand for him and not for me."
The officer just smiled. "Now, let's get him measured."

Two weeks later, Danny and Bullet stood proudly in the Five-0 offices, Bullet wearing his vest and boots.
"Awwww, how cute," Kono Kalakaua, one of the other team members, cooed.
"No, no, no," Danny protested. "My dog is not cute. My dog is completely bad-ass."
Chin-Ho Kelly, another team member, chuckled. "Whatever you say, Danny."
"Oh, I don't know," Lou Grover, the fifth team member, said. "He looks pretty bad-ass to me."
"Thank you, Lou," Danny said. He turned to Steve, the only one who hadn't weighed in yet. "What do you think?"
"I still think this is ridiculous," Steve grumbled.
"You're just jealous because my dog's part of the team and your cat isn't."
"My cat wouldn't want to be part of the team," Steve retorted. "He's too good for it."
"Careful," Lou said. "You just insulted yourself as well as the rest of us."
"I'm sorry," Steve said. "Danny, I think your dog looks marvelous and will be a brilliant asset to the team."
"Don't choke yourself getting that out," Danny said.
"Look, it's the best you're going to get, so just be grateful, okay?" Steve replied.
"Very well. Thank you, Steven."
"You're welcome."
