Vulcans Do Not Feel
Like most everyone in the universe, Jim Kirk assumed that Vulcans don't have emotions. It wasn't a bad assumption though. They rarely show emotion and are always logical.
It was an average day in the USS Enterprise, the landing party beamed down to a planet, violated the Prime Directive, beamed back up and went about their business. Well most of the landing party did. Kirk got an earful of the 'Why you shouldn't violate the Prime Directive' rant Spock usually went on after a mission.
Jim was headed to his room when he heard what sounded like soft crying coming from his first officers quarters. He approached the door slowly, unsure of what to do in this situation. After all, he has never walked in on a Vulcan crying before. Albeit no one has.
Jim opened the door and found Spock sitting on the end of his bed with his head in his hands.
"Spock?" he asked uncertain, "Is everything all right?"
"No Jim. Everything is not all right." Spock said between sniffs, "How could something be all right when you walk in on a Vulcan or half-Vulcan crying?"
"Then tells me whats wrong." Jim said as he sat down next to Spock, "I will try to help as best I can."
Spock straightened and said, "You would not understand my problem." he added more to himself than to Kirk, "You never seem to have it."
"That doesn't mean I can't try. Just tell me."
"Well," he said unsure of where to begin," There is some one I like-"
"That's great! Who?"
"You didn't let me finish. There is someone who I like, but doesn't return the feelings." Spock turned away his head out of shame.
"Did you tell this person?"
"No. I did not"
"Then how do you know they don't return the feelings?"
"Because Jim. This person is a man a I don't believe him to be um-"
"Gay?" Kirk provided, still in shock from Spock admitting theses things to him.
"Yes."
"I have a solution to your problem, Spock."
"Really?"
"Yes. All you have to do is tell this person your true feelings."
After a moment of silence Spock did something that Jim was thoroughly not expecting. Spock kissed him. The kiss was quick and chaste but still one of the best kisses Jim ever had.
Captain James Tiberius Kirk learned one thing from this experience: Vulcans may not feel or have feeling but if your first officer is half-Vulcan half-human, they certainly do feel.
