Goodbye

Run.
Run.
Run.
She continued to run away from the men running after her. Her sky blue eyes open with panic as she staggered away from a knife that almost hit her.
"COME BACK HERE!" Shouted one of the men.
Nobara didn't dare answer at all. She continued to run as if there was no tomorrow. 'Where are you, Rei?'
Then, she saw a man in black near a post light. He had a mask worn over his face, and his hair was messed up.
Finally.
She sprinted towards him and collapsed in his arms.
"Nobara." He simply said, and everything around her turned black.
O.o.O.o.O
Nobara sat up and found Mikan, her best friend, asleep.
How did she get here? No, that didn't matter. What mattered was: Where is her boyfriend?
"Persona?" She whispered.
"I'm here." Persona's outline could be seen near the window, where the moon shone brightly. His mask was taken off, and his hair was back to its usual spiky hairstyle.
"What happened? I was waiting f-for you there… but then those men…" She trailed off.
"Those men were running after you. They thought you were my little sister." He stated.
She didn't need to reply. Nobara knew Persona was in trouble with his family's debts, but their relationship was never mentioned anywhere.
She looked over at Persona, who is giving the 'I'll protect you' look. She smiled. She knew that Persona would never hurt her.
"I know you'll protect me."
O.o.O.o.O
Months passed. Nobara noticed how Persona's family struggled. Persona wouldn't accept her money, or anything. Her parents started to grow weary of danger ever since she encountered the debt collectors.
"Just get out!" Nobara moved a step back. "Just because your family is rich, does not mean you get to play with my little boy's heart!" Persona's mom screamed as she clumsily fell on the floor, the bottle in her hands shattering to tiny bits. "AH! MY BEER!"
Nobara tried to help Persona's mother, but only to end up having a scratch mark on her face. She sighed so many times as she walked back home.
"I'm home." She announced, and went up to her room. She looked at her own reflection. Her left cheek had a wound that starts from the eye. She didn't know how she'll be able to cover this up.
"Nobara, what's that?" He mother screamed in horror. The clothes her mother just washed now on the floor. "Where did you get that?"
"I accidentally-!" Her mother grabbed her wrist and sighed. "Stop, Nobara. Stop lying. Who was it from?"
"Persona's… mom." Nobara couldn't lie. She felt her lips dry.
Her mother, who didn't bother to clean up the mess, just walked away.
That night, she received a text from Persona.
Meet me at the park near your house.
She sneaked out and went to the park.
"What's wrong?" She asked as Persona pulled her to a hug.
"I…" He stopped and moved away. She noticed Persona's eyes were sparkling. Literally. As if tears were forming.
She knew it. He pulled her back for a kiss that lasted for what seemed like hours.
"Goodbye." He said with her eyes still closed. "I love you."
And then he was gone. She fought back the tears that threatened to fall.
He's doing this for my sake. I won't be a burden.
She looked up at the full moon and let herself be engulfed by the surrounding. She allowed her tears to finally fall and she whispered her reply to no one.
"I love you too." She said one last time, and then a police officer came to bring her back home.
