Serena Van Der Woodsen - Story Of A Girl
A short insight into the mind of Upper East's finest, Serena Van Der Woodsen
Serena still longed for those days gone by where everything just seemed so much simpler. She longed to be back in a place where nothing mattered. She wished she could be before the whole her/Nate/Blair triangle had ever begun and when they were all still just best friends – only best friends.
She wished she could go back to a time where her brother didn't try to kill himself, and their odd little family was actually happy, or at least pretending (convincingly) to be.
She wished she could go back to a time where she didn't have to pretend that Blair wasn't having an affair with that arrogant jerk Chuck. Chuck. She wished she didn't have to deal with the possibility of Chuck becoming family – her brother, even.
She wished that her relationship with Dan could just work without any complications like old best friends or current best friends or damn society. She wished that they could just be together...maybe forever.
And then Nate. Darling, darling Nathaniel. She wished that she and Nate could be the way they used to, without the avoiding of each other's gaze, without dancing round each other to satisfy Blair and without every single awkward moment.
And then there was Blair. She couldn't remember a time where things had been different between her Blair. They had always fought; they had always been best friends one day and enemies the next. It was the way that their relationship worked. So for herself and Blair, she wished that they would always stay the same. She hoped that there would be one thing that would always stay the same no matter what, and she really hoped that for both of their sakes it was their relationship. They had both lost enough already. They didn't need to lose each other again.
Serena just longed for the ability to get through everything with grace, elegance and poise and come out standing strong on the other side, with or without her friends.
So that was kind of rubbish.
Please review with any constructive criticism you may have. I'm sure there will be quite a lot as this is my first ever Gossip Girl fan fiction and I hope to write more.
