Reba opened her closet and reached for her coat. She put on her scarf and grabbed a mug of hot cocoa and walked out the door. She trugged through the snow to Sonic's house. Reba looked at the door and thought of how cozy it was inside. She took a sip of her hot drink and knocked on his door. Sonic opened it and grinned when he saw her.
"Hey! How's it goin'?" he asked, and they did their secret handshake.
"Good!" Reba chirped. "I just wanted to see if you wanted to hangout with me...outside."
Sonic gave her his classic smile, leaving her daydreaming.
"Of course! Let me go grab me scarf," he replied, being back at the door in a matter of seconds. They walked down to Alli's house, and Sonic rapped on the door. A gruff voice replied to his knocks.
"Who is it and what do you want?" It was Shadow. He had spent the night at Alli's. Again.
"It's Sonic and Reba," Sonic said, stating it like it was obvious.
"We just wanted to see if the twins wanted to play!" Reba shouted through the door.
There was a yell from inside the house and Alli and Shadow walked out the door wearing coats and boots. Reba noticed that Alli's sister, Symphony, wasn't with them.
"Hey Alli? Where is Symphony?" Reba asked.
"Well she decided to stay at Silver's for the weekend," she replied, so they decided to head that way.
When they got there, Alli banged on the door. Silver opened it and gestured them in. Reba scanned the room and saw Symphony. She was wearing the thickest coat Reba had ever seen along with a huge white scarf and over-sized earmuffs.
"Can ya'll come hangout with us?" Alli asked.
"I just got warm too..." Symphony whined in reply, putting on some gloves. She grabbed Silver's hand and walked out the door.
'Why can't Sonic and I be like that?' Reba asked herself as the assembled group sat on the snow.
Shadow made himself a snowball, and with a sly smile hurled it at Sonic.
"SNOWBALL FIGHT!" Alli yelled, gathering as much snow as she could fit in her arms.
Reba crawled behind a bench trying to avoid the frozen projectiles. She looked up and saw Sonic sitting in front of her.
"Not participating?" Reba asked him. He smirked.
"Rather not get my spines wet," he joked, making them both laugh.
Reba placed a hand in the snow, when she felt something gripping it. She looked over and saw it was Sonic's hand, and she froze. He saw her petrified expression and smiled. Warmth had spread to Reba's face, making it tomato red.
"Its ok silly!" he said.
He looked into her eyes and must've saw the confusion on her face, because he leaned over and kissed her on the cheek.
"I like you."
Reba was at a loss for words. Sonic raised a finger to his lips signaling for silence.
"Isn't it a little to quiet?" he whispered.
Reba stopped and listened, and when she looked up she gasped. A massive clump of snow hung over their heads. Reba barely had time to coer her head when the clump came crashing on them. Reba popped her head out of the pile and heard a chorus of screeching laughter. She turned her head and saw her freinds doubled over on the snow, on the verge of tears.
"You should have seen your faces!" Symphony laughed, trying to catch her breath.
Reba playfully slugged her arm. She looked at the sky and saw the setting sun, a brilliant orange.
She said "Guys, that was fun and all but letts call it a day."
Her friends all grumbled in reply, removing flecks of snow off of their jackets. Alli, Symphony, Silver, and Shadow left, leaving Reba and Sonic.
"See you tommorow, pal?" Sonic asked Reba.
"Of course," she replied, giving him a kiss on the cheek.
Sonic sped off leaving a trail of half melted snow. Reba trugged home, thinking of sweet kisses and a hot bath. She walked into her house and took off her coat. She then sat on the couch and dozed off, thinking about knocking on Sonic's door tommorow.
