Five strong yet average American men
A terrorist force hijacked their flight
The plane's course was altered, but then
These brave heroes chose to fight
Five children walking home from the mall
Unaware, innocent, naïve to the core
Fate entered their lives with its call:
They were destined to enter galactic war

To save others' lives they gave their own
Committing the ultimate sacrifice
And they won, but the world was shown
That fighting a battle demands a price

How many souls have fought and died
That our freedom could be preserved?
By the hardest toils were they tried
And yet their faith remained unswerved.

Six thousand lives were lost
A war on terrorism had begun
An infamous day with an infinite cost
September 11, 2001.

She knew that which had to be done
She knew that she had no hope
Her life was lost; the war was won.
And the former heroes couldn't cope

Remember those soldiers who have climbed
The hero's path, standing straight and tall
Death claimed them, but they left behind
A hope that lives inside us all

A hope that someday, in a better world, we will finally and truly be at peace...
