It was a hard time in the world. Everyone lived in fear and hid; no one dared to come out of hiding. Two people known as androids were terrorizing the world. They cause destruction everywhere they went and left none alive that crossed their path.
Krista was a brave girl for only being sixteen years old. She had lost her family to the androids, but she did not hide like most. She wanted to defeat the androids so people could live in peace again. She knew she was not strong enough, but she kept trying.
Krista did have something to fight against the androids with and that was a power she was born with; telekinesis. She had practiced using her power and knew how to control it and thought that if she got strong enough she could take out the androids. Every time she fought them however she had failed.
Today she didn't feel like fighting. She had nothing to eat for three days and she had no energy left. She scrounged around to find something, but came up empty handed. After awhile of searching she went back to the place she was staying which was a house that was half way destroyed. She collapsed on the floor as she was ready to close her eyes, but sleep would have to wait.
Krista heard an explosion and her eyes widened as she sat up. She didn't think the androids would be here since they had already destroyed this place. They must be bored. She knew she didn't have the energy to fight them so she decided to try and escape quietly.
Krista peered outside and saw the two androids causing mayhem. She went out the back way to avoid them. She got out of the house and hid behind a boulder. She looked to see where the androids were, but couldn't see them. She was afraid to move.
Just then a blast hit the house she was just in and the after shock sent her flying a few feet. She hit the ground hard with a whimper of pain. It must have been loud enough for the androids to hear because they looked in her direction.
Krista locked eyes with them. She knew she had to escape, but before she could even get up the androids were right next to her. Krista stood up and tried to run. She fell to her knees as the androids laughed at her attempt to escape.
Krista felt a tight grip on her arm as she was pulled up. "There is no way you can escape us." Krista looked at the android with black hair that she knew as Android 17.
"Let's just finish her now." The blonde Android 18 said.
"Why when we can have fun with her."
"You've had your fun with her already. Just kill her. She's getting on my nerves anyway."
While the two androids were bickering, Krista took this time to make her escape. She used her power to levitate a piece of debris and chucked it at Android 17. It hit him in the head and made him let go of Krista. Krista then began to run. Before she got too far Android 18 was right in front of her.
"You can't get away that easily." She said.
Krista held up her hand and sent Android 18 flying. Krista didn't even get a chance to run before Android 17 grabbed her wrist with one hand and wrapped his arm around her throat with the other.
"You will not escape this time." He seethed. "You will die now!"
His grip tightened around Krista's throat and she was losing oxygen. She started becoming light headed and her vision was blurry. She knew this was the end. She was going to die, but at least now she will be with her family.
Just when she thought all was lost she felt the android let go of her and she fell to the ground. She tried to open her eyes to see what was going on, but all she saw was darkness. She heard fighting and then one of the androids spoke.
"17, let's get out of here. I'm bored."
Then there was silence. Krista tried to open her eyes again, but they felt too heavy. Soon she felt herself being lifted, but this was not the embrace of someone trying to kill her. This embrace felt protective.
"Everything is going to be all right now." She heard. After that she lost consciousness.
Krista soon woke up to find herself in a bed. She sat up and looked around the room. It didn't look damaged at all. She got out of bed and walked by a mirror. Krista backed up and looked at herself. Her long red hair was a mess and her blue eyes had lost their shine. She subconsciously put her hand on her left eye where she had a cut across it. She remembered her last encounter with the androids and Android 17 had cut her. Now she was blind in that eye.
After she was done looking at herself she decided to see where she was. The building seemed almost completely in tact. She walked down stairs and heard noise so she followed it and found herself in the kitchen. There at the stove was a woman with green hair.
"Excuse me."
The woman turned around and smiled. "Well hello there. I was expecting you to be out for awhile longer, but I'm glad to see you up. My name's Bulma by the way."
"I'm Krista. Um…did you save me?"
Bulma laughed. "No, that would be my son. He is in the shower right now, but after he gets out you will meet him. Are you hungry? I'm fixing some food."
"Yes, I am."
"Sit down and it will be ready in a few minutes. So Krista, how old are you?"
"I'm sixteen."
"You're the same age as my son."
"What's his name?"
"Trunks."
"Um…that's an interesting name."
Bulma chuckled. "Yeah it is."
A few minutes had passed and Bulma put food on three plates. Bulma told Krista that she could start eating and didn't have to wait for Trunks. Krista didn't have to be told twice as she started eating. Bulma laughed when she saw Krista eat.
"You remind me of Trunks. He has a big appetite too."
"What about me?" Trunks asked as he came in the kitchen.
"I was just telling Krista that you have a big appetite."
"Krista?"
Krista looked up at Trunks and almost dropped her fork when she saw him. He had beautiful violet eyes with grey hair. Krista thought he was really cute.
"Trunks, this is Krista. Krista, this is my son Trunks."
"That's a pretty name." Trunks said.
"Thank you. So I understand that you are the one that saved me."
"That's right." Trunks said as he sat down.
"Thanks for that. I thought I was done for."
"That's what I do."
After they ate Bulma told Krista she could take a shower and asked Trunks to show her where it was while she went to get clean clothes. Krista felt a little out of place especially since she hadn't been around other people for a long time.
Bulma soon brought Krista new clothes and then she and Trunks left Krista to her shower. Krista started the water then stepped into the shower. The hot water felt good on her body. She washed up and was disgusted by how much dirt washed down the drain. She expected that much since it had been awhile since she took a shower. The closest she came to a bath or a shower was a small river.
Once Krista washed up she got out of the shower and dried off then put the clothes Bulma had brought her on. They were a little big, but they were better then her old dirty clothes. She ran her fingers through her soft hair.
Krista went back down stairs and saw that Trunks was the only one in the kitchen. When he saw her he smiled.
"How do you feel?"
"Better thank you. Where is Bulma?"
"She is in her shop working on something."
Krista just nodded. "I want to thank you again for saving me. If there is anyway I can repay you-"
"You don't need to. Like I said it's what I do."
"So you go around saving people from the androids?"
"Yeah. I hate what they do and I don't like seeing them hurt anyone."
"Then you are very brave. Well…I better get going." Krista felt like she had over stayed her welcome.
"Why should you go?"
"I don't want to intrude on you and your mom."
"You won't be. We already talked about it and it's decided that you stay. Besides I don't want you to go back out there with the androids. You will be safer here."
"Safe?" Krista had heard the word before, but it is something she had never felt. Trunks and Bulma seemed like nice people and she really didn't want to go back out there. "Thank you."
So Krista stayed with Trunks and his mom, but she couldn't help except wonder what will happen when they find out she has telekinetic powers. Will they be afraid of her and make her leave? Or will they not care? Krista didn't know and she wasn't going to tell them in fear they will hate her.
That night Krista got to sleep in a bed for the first time in a long time. It felt so much better then lying on the ground. She also wasn't cold because she got blankets. She slept peacefully that night…well, as peaceful as it could get. She was still plagued with nightmares.
