Title: My Capacity
Summary: Itachi was the future of the Uchiha clan. Everyone knew this. But what if all was not what it seemed.
It had started when Itachi was a mere Genin. Even back then, people realized his potential and he was known throughout Konoha. That was before the event that would change the fate of his life.
Flashback
There were screams heard as the battle with the Kyuubi wore on. Unknown to the brave ninja protecting their home, their savior was beside a hospital bed, awaiting the arrival of his new son.
"Please let this work…" Minato muttered to himself as he paced back and forth.
"Let what work?" asked a voice from behind. Minato immediately whipped out a kunai and held it to the neck of… Itachi Uchiha.
"Oh, it's you Itachi-kun," Minato said, ignoring the childs question.
"Well, what are you doing in here Hokage-sama? My sensei said that all of the ninja above chunnin are going to the front lines," Itachi asked, curios as to what the most powerful ninja was doing in a hospital.
"Well, I was just working on a method to defeat the Kyuubi," Minato answered.
"And that would be…" Itachi inquired.
"To seal it into my newborn son," Minato said while looking towards the delivery room's door.
"But what will happen to your son!" Itachi exclaimed. At eight years old, he was very intelligent and he knew that there had to be a huge price to pay in order to seal a demon.
"My son will be fine, but unfortunately I will not be. I am going to use a sacrificing technique in order to ensure that the demon will have no control over my son," Minato sighed as he started to pace back and forth.
The doors flew open as a doctor looked at the Hokage with a sad look on his face.
"What happened?" Minato asked. The doctor just shook his head as Minato rushed into the room, followed closely by Itachi.
In the room lied a beautiful woman with long, red hair. At first everything seemed normal enough, but then Itachi noticed that the woman was not breathing. Itachi's breath caught in his throat as he recognized the woman to be Kushina Uzumaki Namikaze, wife of the Fourth Hokage.
"What happened to my son," Minato said in a soft voice as he cupped his wife's cheek in his hand.
"He was fine, but there were… complications," The doctor replied.
Minato sighed as he turned to Itachi. After contemplating for a moment, he realized that he had no choice unless he wanted his son to die.
"I'm going to have to ask you to do something that may test your capacity as a ninja sometime, Itachi-kun," Minato said softly.
"My...Capacity?" Itachi questioned.
AN: Yes, I know that this chapter is mostly a flashback, but I promise that they will get more into Naruto's life and what really caused the Uchiha massacre. Please tell me what I can do to make my story better by reviewing!
