The rain poured heavily outside the house, almost reflecting the somber mood that had eclipsed everyone in Storybrook. On the steps of the mansion, stood Rumplestilskin broken and alone. Bae was standing before him scarred and torn. He had grown far beyond the little boy who could only see the hope in everything. He was now a young man filled with so much regret .
"What do you want from me? Bae yelled. "I gave you the chance a long time ago to come with me. You choose your power over me!" Tears began to stream down Jefferson's face as he tried to hold back the anger.
"Keeping me locked away from everything and everyone." Jefferson stood apprehensive in the doorway. "If it wasn't for that girl ….."
"That wasn't me, son, you have to believe me." Rumple tried to show as much honesty in his face as he possibly could. "I didn't even know you were here. All I ever done was look for you after that time. "
"If you weren't such a coward I would have never been here." Bae breathed heavily as he felt his chest burst from the stress. He could feel his throat throb at the sight of his father; it was a mixture of longing and hate. All those nights in the real world, he just wanted his dad, a dad who would never be there. Regina came to find him knowing that one crucial fact. Bae just wanted someone to be there for him.
"I was a coward, you were right, but I've changed. ALL THIS… was created just to find YOU." He took a step closer trying to gently encourage his son to approach him.
"A world where I can't even be with my daughter," he pulled down the scarf around his neck to show the deep white line that curved so elegantly across it. "A world where this scar haunts me every day of my endless existence trapped in this chaotic world as I sink deeper and deeper in my own madness."
Rumplestilskin gently reached up crying as he tried to caress the scar on his son's neck. Tears slowly melted down his face. "Oh my god Bae, how much have I missed in all these years."
"The blue fairy was right I did come into a world without magic. The perfect place WHERE WE COULD HAVE BEEN TOGETHER." His son tried to restrain the anger behind the tears. "Then Regina found me, with the help of that spiteful witch, Reul Ghor, and the rest…. is history."
"Oh Bae, If I could to do anything to change it I would." He reached for his grown son's hand. Bae quickly pushed it away, as he backed closer to the door. He could feel the urge to shut it in on the man who once was his father. The man he so desperately hoped would choose him beyond all else, and who would love him just for being there. He had become so materialistic because he had thought he wasn't good enough, not even for his own daughter. Grace saw past that though. It was all this man's fault, yet the crying powerless image of his once loving father standing before him was tough to ignore. It became harder to quell the old feelings of love. Love that once would have made him a man he could be proud of and not the meager servant of the Evil Queen. So much potential she had seen, and so much potential she had destroyed.
"They call me Mad, Im not though …. Bae whispered softly. "If only I was. How could I loose so much and become so lost." He pressed his hand to his sweat soak head. The emotions in the hatter's heart became harder to hold back.
"oh my son." Rumple softly whispered.
"Papa I'm so lost." He looked down as his father who finally looked like he belonged with humanity.
"Im so sorry, Bae" Rumple wrapped his arms around his son and the two gently cradled each other. The two stood silently in the embrace of the other.
"Papa, I'm so lost" he rested his head on his dad's shoulder.
"They are both going to pay dearly." He smirked as his skin almost seemed to glow in the rainy moonlight. Bae was too gone in the moment to even notice.
