Okay this is a little one-shot I wrote a very long time ago…nearly a year at this stage! It's set more or less directly after Season 1 episode 13. Anyway the reason I've decided to post it is that I'm actually finding myself missing Sir Edward! I can't explain it! Enjoy!

Father-in-Law

Robin Hood had successful climbed out of the top window of Knighton Hall and descended down the wall without being detected by a certain nobleman. He breathed a sigh of relief and turned to mount his horse.

'Heh-hem' came a voice from behind him.

'Busted' thought Robin turning around slowly 'Sir Edward, good evening'.

'Evening? My boy, it is so late it is almost morning' the old man said with a glint in his eye.

'I was just…' Robin began. Edward had a way of making Robin feel like a young boy again.

'I know what you were just…' Edward replied staring Robin right in the eye.

'I'll be off then' Robin tried to leave again.

'She is happier than I have ever seen her' Edward said affectionately. Robin couldn't help but smile at Edward. 'and I know I owe this happiness to you Robin, She actually smiles now but I won't be around forever and I need to know she's been taken care of'

'I have ever intention of marrying your daughter, Sir Edward you do not need to worry' Robin said confidently.

'I remember hearing very similar words five years ago' Sir Edward said boldly.

Robin looked away from Edward, no matter what he did or said he felt no one could forgive him for leaving. 'Sir Edward' Robin began 'you of all people know I had to go, I had to fight for England'.

Edward nodded his head 'yes but when you left I was not a loyal subject of King Richard, I was a father trying to nurse my daughters broken heart'

'I am not going to leave again' Robin said firmly 'and if I do, I will be taking Marian with me.'

'I trust you Robin, I do after all you did save my life, but you should know this' said Edward 'if you ever hurt my daughter again, I don't care who you are, I will kill you'

Robin's eyes widened and he took a step back. He believed every word of what Edward had said.

'Now' Edward smiled 'you best be off Robin, Good Night.'

'Good night Sir' Robin bowed.

Sir Edward re-entered Knighton Hall content with his little chat with Robin but was meet with a figure on the stairs

'Father?' Marian said with a firm voice.

'Yes my dear?' Edward answered.

'What did you say to him?' she asked urgently

'To who?' Edward asked acting unawares.

'to Robin!' she shouted.

'Oh Robin, well we just had a man-to-outlaw talk'

'Father' Marian repeated.

Edward sighed 'I told him I would kill him if he hurt you'

'Father, there will be no need to kill him!' Marian said laughing.

Edward stepped towards his daughter 'It feels that way now Marian but he hurt you once he could-'

Marian interrupted him 'No father, if he hurts me, I will kill him myself'

Sir Edward smiled 'very well, now off to bed and please tell any other visitors who may have to come back tomorrow'.

By the way I have started loads of ideas and songs that I think would be perfect for some fics if anyone is interesting just lets me know at I'll tell you them coz I really think they should be used to I don't have the time right now!
