| 6:58 am. sunday Sora lied in her bed, thinking about her conversation with Matt yesterday. The phone rang. "Sora, it's for you!" her mother's voice came from the kitchen. Sora quickly took off her earphones and turned off the cd player she was listening to. "Hello?" She asked, picking up the phone. "Yea, hi Sora," the voice mumbled. Who was it? she wondered. "Uh.. Tai?" The voice suddenly became almost annoyed. "No, it's Matt." "Oh, sorry," sora said quickly. She should've known. Tai only called when he needed help with homework or if he wanted to play soccer. "Look.. I really don't know why I called.. I guess I just needed someone to talk to," he admitted hoarsely. "Is something wrong, MAtt?" she asked. Well, something must be wrong; Matt never called her before. How did he even get her phone number? "It's my parents.. they still won't get back together.." he whispered, almost choking. He told her everything, how he felt and was on the verge of crying. Sora listened, quiet for most of the conversation. "It's ok, Matt. I think.. I think I know how you feel." She recalled her father, but it was too painful to. Suddenly there was a long silence. Sora felt awkward, especially since she and Matt weren't that close. She wanted to say something, but there wasn't anything else to say. Then, "Sora, can you go out with me tomorrow?" The fourteen year old girl almost toppled backwards onto the floor. Where the hell did that come from? Weren't they talking about the divorce? Matt sure is weird, Sora thought. Wait- he was asking her out! On a date! Matt? Matt was like the brother she never had.. it was impossible! she really couldn't imagine him as.. as her boyfriend or somthing. No way, it would be way too weird. Besides, she had something to do tomorrow. Only she couldn't remember what. "Hello? You still there?" "Yea, Matt." "Look, I'll understand if you don't want to.." he told her, but something in his voice said otherwise. She has to say yes! She has to! Please, Sora.. Sora felt almost guilty. Well, it wouldn't hurt right? Just one date.. Besides, Matt was pretty cute. She giggled outloud. "I want to, Matt." But this was really weird, she'd never even been on a date and her first would be with Matt! MAtt! Ugh, all this worrying is making me nervous. She knew just what to do.. "Hello, Mimi?" Sora called her best friend. "::yawn::.. Sora? What are you doing up so early? We don't even have school today!" The sleepy girl murmured through the phone. "I can't sleep, I'm so nervous. Oh Mimi.. what should I do?" She wailed. "Are you okay, Sora? What are you so nervous about?" Mimi asked in her concerned voice. Usually she was the one who went to Sora for help, not the other way around. "Well.. Matt asked me out yesterday-" Mimi nearly fell out of the bed. Luckily the phone didn't. She regained balance, able to say, "MATT ISHIDA?!" "Wow Mimi for a sleepy person you sure speak loudly," Sora commented at her reaction. She smiled, "Yes, Matt Ishida." "What's to worry about? Don't you think he's cute?" Mimi asked, not getting it. "Mimi!" Sora had to giggle in spite of herself. "What?" "I just.." she struggled to find the words. "I just can't imagine Matt and me, together." Mimi agreed. "Honestly, Sora, I can't eithere. I always thought you and Tai had something going on." "Tai? That's funny.." Sora said, more to herself. He hasn't even spoken to me ever since he got back from vacation. Tai's whole family had gone to Europe for spring recess and he hardly even talked to her besides during soccer practice. "Well, I'm really happy for you, Sora. I bet Matt really likes you!" Mimi encouraged. I really need my beauty sleep.. why couldn't Sora call during the day? Oh, what kind of a friend am I being? Sora could take a hint. "Uh.. okay, Mimi. Thanks.. bye." "Bye!" Sora signed and snuggled back under the covers. Maybe Mimi was right.. Matt looked at himself in the mirror, almost unsure of why he was doing this. I bet Sora doesn't even like me. A picture of Tai suddenly came into his mind. Well, I'll prove that I'm better than Tai! Matt suddenly shook his head. How did Tai pop up out of nowhere? Sora never even acted like he liked him, anything more than as a friend. Uh-oh. It was time. The blonde boy took a deep breath and ran out of the house. "Well, uh, Sora where do you wanna go?" MAtt asked eagerly after they were in his car. "I don't know, Matt. It's up to you," Sora wore a blue tank top with her usual baggy jeans, but she still felt uncomfortable. This was way too weird, even though she had to admit Matt looked really nice. He did his hair for me.. Tai would never do that. "Okay, then let's go see that movie After Titan or something ok?" He suggested. "After Earth," she corrected. "Whatever." After long awkward conversations about the weather they finally got there. "Two tickets for After, er, Earth," Matt said. "Um, sorry, we're full," the woman in the booth said. Sora looked at Matt. "Let's see something else then," she suggested. "What then?" He whispered. "Please don't tell me we're gonna watch the Chicken Run or something." She giggled. "I don't know.. Road Trip?" "Uh-" He wanted to protest, but he didn't want to ruin the date. "Two tickets for Road Trip." The woman eyed them suspiciously. "How old are you anyway?" "14!" "Well, where are your IDs?" She asked. Oh no. They couldn't believe this. "Look lady, you gotta believe us!" Matt argued. But she wouldn't give in. They were forced to leave. "That bitch!" Matt yelled furiously, drawing disapproving looks from bystanders on the sidewalk. "Hey cool it Matt." Sora said. This really sucked, she knew, but she felt bad for Matt. They walked silently and almost arrived at their high school, since the movie theatre was close to their school. "Look, Matt it's really no big deal," Sora started. "I.." He didn't know what to say. "I really.. wanted it to be perfect. I really like you, Sora." He looked into her crimson eyes almost pleadingly. Sora was nervous- again. Did he- expect a kiss? It would be like kissing a brother! But she saw the look in his eyes.. and she couldn't let him down. Not after what happened in the movie theater. She gently kissed him on the lips. Matt couldn't resist her kiss. He wanted more but then- "SORA!" The girl broke away. "Tai?" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's it for now.. I wrote some more but too lazy to post it. I know so far it's pretty boring.. oh well. I was half asleep when I wrote it. :p I know that this is turning out to be more like a Sorato fic.. i will make up for it in the second part, I promise. :) Sorry again, for the monotony of it so far..
