Okay, just a brief explanation. My English teacher recently taught my class how to write Shakespearian sonnets. Then he made us all write one and present it to the class. Most people took over an hour to compose their sonnet. Mine took about twenty minutes. Reading it over, however, I realized that it wasn't really something I should share with people. Don't pour your soul or deepest secrets into a graded writing assignment. Obviously, I wrote another one, and in my efforts to keep the topic away from my personal issues, I ended up writing about Erik.
The first sonnet is the one I handed in, and I'm pretty pleased with it. The second one was a result of boredom and phantom-esque emo-ness. I don't like it as much, but I put it up anyway.
Loved for Himself
He dreams to live the life of any man;
To know for once that he is not alone.
He tries his best but does not think he can,
But then again, he can't live on his own.
He sees her walking past and stops to stare,
Regains his wits and tries his best to hide,
But she will never see him standing there.
He'll never walk in sunlight by her side.
The world has caused this pain in which he lives.
Mankind has forced him here beneath the ground.
They do not want the art he freely gives.
He'll never know the love that he has found.
There'll be no change from this, the life he's led.
She will not mourn when he is cold and dead.
Man in Darkness
The eyes that look out from that tortured face
Could melt a wall of stone with little strife.
But mankind stares at him in this dark place
And strips from him his dignity and life.
He is a human, but they do not see
That deep inside, his soul is just like theirs.
They will not let him live or leave him be
And though they see his pain, nobody cares.
He prays to be like them and live in light.
He wants to have a life like any man.
But they have beaten him 'til he can't fight.
They say he does not feel and never can.
And nothing soothes this pain within his heart;
He'll always be away, alone, apart.
So how's my Erik Shakespeare? Please let me know what you think! (Even if you dislike them.)
HAPPY THANKSGIVING! **I am thankful for all my nice friends like you who are now going to send me a review.**
