I've been a little melancholy lately. I've been thinking of the Potter series, and the memories that I have collected over the time that I've read them. I don't just dedicate this to the characters that died, or the end of the series, but to a very dear woman I knew as a child. Her name was Rachael, and she was probably the closest thing I've ever had to a real hero and mentor. She was a lot like me, right down to us both having defective hearts. Unfortunately, her heart gave out during a lung transplant, and has been gone for several years now. She was the biggest influence in my reading of the books. And I'll never forget the dear memories that I have, my being little and racing against her to see who could finish first. I miss her a lot, and now that it's all over, I feel a little at a loss on her end too. I think she would've loved the rest of the series.

R.I.P. Rachael. I hope you and Snape are living it up in heaven.

For those who have been,

For those we've lost,

We miss you.

You stood for something.

When others were afraid to fight the overwhelming waves of adversity,

You rushed out into the sea to meet them as they came.

You were beautiful and good.

Parents.

Teachers.

Friends.

Family.

Even those who we never saw, but that protected us from behind the curtain of prejudice and obscurity.

You're gone now, but you will never be forgotten.

And when the sun sets on the last battle,

This war is for you.

For freedom.

Thank you.

And when all is said,

And all has been done,

To the last ray of light in this world,

To the final sweet breath that is to live,

We will come home to you.

This is not good bye.

Just a short interlude between meetings.
