Hello all downton abbey fans ! and im assuming if you clicked on this story Anna and Bates fans also :) I wrote this as I seriously cannot handle these 7 day wait each time haha, also I am deffinatly curious as to how Anna and Bates came to be so... Im not touching on Vera, I can't handle that and I dont feel I really know vera ... I also hate her hahah

She stood still, her arms behind her back, in the slight cold of the afternoon. She was a small greeting party for Lady Mary's return, to pick up her bags and quickly get back to work. Although it was a bit chilly and she was not exactly looking forward to the catch up work she will have to do after wasting a good five to ten minutes out here, at least it gave her time to indulge in the thought of Mr. bates. After all she could only do this when she was on her own or if someone else brought him up in conversation (none of this is happening enough for love struck Anna)
Oh Mr Bates, Bates, John Bates… John. It's funny she had known him for almost four years now, yet calling him John seemed so intimate it made her giddy. Of course they were now a lot closer. They were in some sort of relationship. People knew of there love and people let it go. Despite their jobs, despite their age, despite his marriage and Anna may not see this as a problem but some people may, despite his leg. No remarks were made, they wouldn't dare. Lord Grantham seems okay with it, so everyone whatever they think, is okay with it. Saying that, Anna is pretty sure the Dowager Countess is none the wiser.
The sun has broken out from the clouds for a short period, warming Anna up for a bit as she waited. Their romance had been a slow burner looking back at it, especially the first two years. Then the war broke and it became clear that taking time with things isn't the way anymore. In a war nobody has time to take.
Yes ever since his lordship announced the news that afternoon, things changed, things changed quickly.
This is a prologue.. obviously. I am hoping to explore whats been happening with Anna and Bates in this story through Anna's Memory sort of thing. I Hope you like :P
