Author's Notes: So here we go, the 3rd Style Song-Fic I've worked on. The story will mostly be written from Kyle's POV with Stan having his POV at certain points in the story. I'm a huge fan of Snow Patrol and their music is just screaming with Style in it. Anyway, enjoy...

Prologue
Narrator's POV
The skies were dark, cold and lonely for this evening. Rain represented the millions of tears that cried down from the Heavens - well...that's what others believed. If that were to be spoken only 10 minutes ago, the 17 year-old Kyle Broflovski would have laughed that statement away as if it were yet another ridiculous sentence of bull-shit. But now as his life lay pretty much in shattered pieces, that statement was becoming more true by the second.
The rain continued to fall – heavy wet droplets crashing down onto his visible auburn bushy hair with the puddles of the darkened black road climbing up onto his jeans as he sprinted through each one as he tried desperately to catch up to the one he had had his attention on for so long...and indeed, still did have. But the one he was sprinting after didn't stop running – there was no sign of him stopping at all. All Kyle wanted to do was show Stan the truth...yet it seemed to proove a much more difficult task than expected considering Kyle had just made one of the biggest mistakes he could possibly make.
"Stan...STAN...wait...please you don't understand." Kyle kept calling – the rain almost limiting his voice to a lonely mute. "Please Stan...just give me a chance to explain myself..." And in that instant, the black-haired 17-year old stopped in his tracks. Slowly but surely, Stan Marsh turned around and gave his 'friend' a cold and icy stare.
"Why?" The one simple word sent Kyle's inner-self curl up inside himself. "Why should I lrt you explain it even more – you've done enough as it is..." He started to turn around again.
"STAN...wait..." It felt like the last resort to keep Stan's attention now. Kyle rushed over to him and placed his hand on Stan's shoulder.
But just as Kyle thought he'd managed to keep Stan from walking away again, in a sense of eventual anger, Stan used what emotional strength he had left and forced Kyle to the wet ground. Looking down at the destroyed Kyle as he sat in weak state in the rain, Stan arched his finger like an arrow and directed it towards Kyle's face. "I don't EVER wanna hear from you again! Here was me thinking that you were my best-friend Kyle...and look what happens...you've got some nerve!"
"Stan, I was only trying to..."
"What?! TRYING TO FUCKING WHAT?!" Stan screamed in anger before scrunching his lips in an effort to not let loose a lone tear. "Why is it that whenever I find happiness with someone, you have to come along and ruin it. You were my best-friend Kyle, I thought you'd be happy for me."
"Stan...I was only..."
"NO...don't even say it Kyle...I don't wanna hear whatever fucking excuse you've managed to come up with because I've had it with you trying to break me up from the only one that can bring happiness into my life."
"Stan..." Kyle said – almost in tears.
"Forget it Kyle...you've already done enough damage tonight. If you have any decency left, you'll leave me alone and get on with yer' life. Consider our friendship...OVER..."
And with that said, Stan placed his hat back on and made his way down the road and slowly faded into the wet darkness – disappearing completely from Kyle's vision. A few minutes passed and Kyle remained sitting in the rain – frozen into shock over what had happened tonight. To say he thought things were going so well tonight would be an under-statement – a long-planned idea to get Stan to realise what was REALLY going on became Kyle's last-resort to win back the one he loved...his best-friend...his only REAL best-friend...the one he admired and loved – Stan Marsh.
Now as the emotional chemicals in his head started to swirl around like a chaotic cocktail, the penny had finally dropped inside Kyle – Stan was gone. And that last thought was enough to force Kyle to bury his head in his arms. With his hair heavy on his head, the rain droplets slipped down his roots and down his face to mix in with the other droplets that were now trickling down his face from his eyes.
For 10 minutes, Kyle sat completely alone in the rain – crying and reflecting heavilly on an emotional defeat.
But the tears of his emotions soon faded away and only the tears of the dark skies were what were wetting his body now. Defeated...drained...and depressed, Kyle slowly made his way back home – already thinking about how he was going to try and explain his late arrival back home to his parents.
The state he was in was something Kyle knew wouldn't just go away in a matter of a night's sleep – this was an emotional heart-break for him that time just could not heal. He'd already realised that by tomorrow, especially at school, he'd have to put on a brave-face to everyone – including his friends and the teachers there. No one in the entire World could understand the problem Kyle was facing at this present moment in his life. Then again, the signs of romance had been clearly visible over the many years of his young life. Seven years had come and gone and it seemed that the 17 year-old Jew was getting nowhere – like an endless loop of messed-up emotional incidents and missed opportunities. But tonight seemed like the final nail in the coffin – the last chance to make things all better, gone.
But...for some odd reason, Kyle still felt some warm shining ray of light inside him as if all were not lost. He wasn't going to let THIS go and give up THAT easily. In the midst of all this darkness, there was still light and he knew that it only took one chance and one opportunity to make everything as the way it should be. Knowing this and finally realising the existence of one FINAL chance, Kyle showed a small smile finally.
This experience was to teach both Stan AND Kyle the truth about trust and love – especially for each other. And the aim of Kyle's overall plan was simple. It was the very thing Kyle had tried all year yet it was the very plan that has split those two apart tonight. But Kyle focused on the future, not the past and he believed that times were about to change for the best.
And all Kyle wanted to do...was to allow Stan to open his eyes finally, to the truth. The life-long love that Kyle had kept secret for so long was at long last, about to come to an end.
This is the story of eyes opening...and love blossoming.
