Gwen made her way down the stairs from Jack's office, where she'd been talking to Tosh just moments before. Owen looked up and watched her descent, after glancing around his surroundings and seeing that Tosh must have left for home.
Gwen walked to his desk and stood behind him, watching as he continued typing for a moment before he turned to face her, looking up. But he didn't speak, just watching her.
"I talked to her," It was Gwen that broke the silence, shifting her feet slightly; "She won't tell anyone… you know that."
Owen heaved a sigh, turning his hands over in his lap. "Yeah, I know. It just freaks me out. My thoughts about you weren't exactly innocent – and to find out that she's been listening this whole time…"
Gwen was sympathetic, reaching to rest a hand on his shoulder, her fingers gently squeezing.
"I know what you mean, but she didn't do it on purpose." A smile graced her lips and she tipped her head slightly, her gaze mischievous now. "Impure thoughts, eh? What exactly was running through your mind, then, Doctor Harper?"
Owen avoided her gaze. "Oh, nothing. It doesn't matter." He stood up, stretching his arms. Gwen's hand fell from his shoulder as he moved away to pick up his leather jacket, putting it on and pulling the car keys from the pocket. He dangled them from his fingers in front of Gwen.
"Fancy a lift home?" His was the teasing tone now, stepping closer and raising his free hand to caress her cheek. She closed her eyes, her breathing hitching slightly before she moved away to collect her own jacket, which she quickly shrugged on.
"Of course."
