Absolution
formal release from guilt, obligation, or punishment.
On the desert sands, Obi-wan Kenobi learned to forgive himself. There was no use hanging onto the sins of the past. No gain from rehashing the mistakes. There was no opportunity for a do-over. In the privacy of his thoughts, the greatest Jedi of his Age often thought that the Force was a fickle bitch indeed.
No wonder then, that he settled himself to more earthly desires. Like the continuation of the Skywalker line. When he thought of the twins, it was like lightning through his heart. What right had he? What right had he to separate those, by all that was just, should not have been separated? No right at all. Except by what he had seen. Deep, fathomless, desire to control, to abolish the freedom of others for one's own satisfaction. And Anakin Skywalker, now turned Dark Lord of The Sith, the most ancient of enemies, indeed the only enemy…was ruled with what had failed to satisfy him.
Family, love, all this had fallen to dust. And so would his seed. They would be twisted, wrought into creatures unknown by his desires, by his fulfillment of what satisfied him. There would be no freedom, no true life, except life of a slave.
And in that, the man known to all of Tatooine as Ben, found solace, for all that may burn, he may make up for his failing as a man and brother, as a watchful guardian.
