A/N; Some changes in the story as it is rewritten. But not much. I think I just made Kikyou less evil and more.. Understandable, in a sense. I am rewriting this, I suppose, to showcase how my writing is different from the way it used to be when this story was first created. Love & Betrayal
1; Prologue
Looking into her eyes, I could see all the emotions going through her mind, the reasons why her hand shook as it pointed her bow at my heart. She was like a mouse pinned to a wall by a cat. Desperate for the end, but fearful of what was to come. She was backed into a wall, the way she was acting. She had no choice, in her mind, than to do this. No words I could say would stop it. No amount of pleading, begging, reasoning could change her mind now. She was set on this, on my demise, on ending my life so she could cling to her own.
I didn't speak, was there any words one could say at this moment? Besides the obvious. But, considering the life I had lived until this point, I was not one to bed, not one to plead for my life. Maybe, just maybe, this release, this death, would be perfect for me. He would be fine. He did not need me. This would be, not only to end to my suffering, but the end of his need to protect me. His duty as my protector our mother gave him upon her death. He would be free of me, and to have the life with her that she was so intent on having, that she needed so badly, it led her to this.
Her eyes narrow. Her hand straightens and I know, deep down, she had forced down her fear. She knew more than I that he would be upset once he found out what she was doing, what she had done, when the day came for him to find out. But I merely smiled, closing my eyes, whispering softly to myself as tears slid down my cheeks before I heard it. She released the arrow from the bow and I soon felt it pierce through my shoulder, knocking me backwards.
I couldn't stop the cry of pain that left my lips, it seemed to echo around us in the dark forest, off the bark of the trees, bouncing off the walls of nearby caves. My eyes opened just in time to catch the look on her face. Horror, shock, pain. She had done what she never thought she could, even if we did not see eye to eye, who would have known she was capable of this? She turned and ran away, a glimpse of tears catching my eye before she disappeared.
My body relaxed, my head rolled to rest on my slumped shoulders. I let out a weak chuckle, feeling blood coming to cake my lips. I couldn't speak, there was no point. No one in this abandoned forest could hear me.. But I managed to utter one thing before the world around me finally turned from the blurs I was seeing, to just black emptiness.
"InuYasha.."
A/N; Please review! Next chapter coming up soon. I decided to make this after the ending, so many of the characters previous, and events written during the middle of the show, are gone and replaced with more.. Made up, you can say, situations. Still basically the same story, just some changes, as I have said. I hope you all liked it!
