Chapter One

Slade told warned us about this day. Right before he died, he told me two things. One, he was my father, who I thought died years ago. Next, he told me that the Earth would end on December 21, 2012. That was two years ago. Now, it's December 20, 2012. I assured myself that Slade didn't know what he was talking about. But just in case, I went to the JLA.

" Please hear me out," I pleaded.

" Robin, sit down," Batman scolded.

" Let the boy speak," Wonder Woman ordered. " Go on, Robin."

" Slade," I continued, " told me, right before he died that tomorrow would be Earth's final day. Should we let the people we've lived our entire lives trying to protect die? We have a super space station, capable of holding up to 2 million people, not including us."

" So what you are proposing," Superman gestured, " is that we attempt to save some of the people. Like scientists, teachers, clergymen and other people vital for society?

" Partially," I replied. Bu what about the middle class. the hard workers who have families.

" I agree," the Green lantern motioned.

" I concur," the Green Arrow said.

" All in favor, say I," Superman said. Most of the committee agreed, with a loud eruption of "I's."

" Thank you," I replied.

" Now," Superman continued, " Each of us is responsible for getting 100,000 people here. The shuttles can carry that much, plus five. So each of us must group up into 5's. Thank you, Robin." That was five days ago, and we were below our status quo.
