Disclaimer:I do NOT own CSI, blah blah blah…
I'm pretty sure I've written something like this before but this sort of spilled this afternoon.
Proven Wrong
He's studied her carefully for weeks, now it's starting to pay off.
Every cute dimple talks to him.
Every glint in her eyes makes his heart swell to ten times its original size.
Every soft movement of her body hypnotises him.
And he wouldn't have it any other way.
He never thought he could love anyone other than Sara…
But he's never been more wrong.
What he feels right now is different from what he's always felt for his wife; this is a whole new kind of love.
He would never have imagined…
He knows everything there is to know about her, yet he still has so much more to learn.
Smiling down at her he lightly touches her cheek.
"I love you so much." he whispers, unaware that his wife is silently watching from the bedroom door. "I never thought I could love anyone other than Sara but you've proved me so wrong."
She smiles up at him and flutters her long dark eye lashes.
He smiles.
For a long time they watch eachother closely; sparkling blue eyes on glistening blue eyes, with smiles pulling at the corners of their mouths.
Hearing a noise behind him he turns his head quickly towards the door, startled.
"Sara…" he gasps.
Her eyes are full of tears.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean…"
"Sshh…" whispers Sara, smiling. "How is she?"
He looks back at the soft and warm body in his arms; his sleeping daughter.
"She's perfect." he smiles. "She just wanted to spend some time with her daddy."
"You should've woke me up, it's my turn tonight."
He looks back at his wife.
"You looked so serene sleeping and I didn't want to wake you. Anyway…" he says. "I like these early morning bonding sessions."
Sara slowly moves into the room and walking up behind her husband she wraps her arms around his chest and kisses him on the cheek.
"It doesn't feel real does it?" whispers Sara, placing her hand at the top of her baby's head covering her chocolate brown curls.
"No. After the long journey it took us to get here… I never thought… We finally have our own family."
They both look down at their daughter to find her eyes falling closed.
"Let's go to bed." says Gil as he stands up and places the baby back into her crib.
"We still need to agree on a name."
They smile at eachother as Gil takes her hand and leads her through to their bedroom.
"Tomorrow." he laughs. "I promise we will decide on a name tomorrow."
Sara stops by the bed and turns to face her husband, her eyes still shining with tears.
"I love you." he says to her, beating her to it. "And our daughter. We finally have our own family."
He lifts his hand to her cheek and wipes away the single tear which falls.
Sara swallows and blinks away more tears.
"I love you both, too."
They settle down in the bed, wrapped in eachothers arms, and fall into a peaceful sleep.
THE END
