The Trouble With Kaorin: An Azumanga Daioh Fan-Fiction

The corridor between classes that day brought a new awkwardness towards an interchange of acquaintance between two girls who were becoming young women. Kaorin for one had just done the unthinkable. Having kissed her precious Miss Sakaki on the lips, not knowing if she wanted this particular outburst of romantic feeling, Kaorin braced herself to be hit or yelled at, trembling like the cherry blossoms in the wind.
"Please…." said Kaorin. "It's just how I feel about you, I perfectly understand if you don't want to…"
Sakaki still had her eyebrows raised in shock, but she smiled nervously. "I'd heard some rumor going around that you liked me, but I didn't ever think you liked me that way"
Beginning to burst into tears, Kaorin ran down the corridor. "Wait!" shouted Sakaki, "I haven't finished explaining!"
She ran down the hall with the best of her athletic abilities (that had won her win a few sports events in her time), and Kaorin was simply not fast enough to avoid being crashed into at a high velocity.
"I just want you to know I don't hate you" said Sakaki. "And I didn't mind that kiss either"
Kaorin got up from the floor and looked into Sakaki's eyes, overcome. "You really mean it?" she replied. "You'll accept me for who I am?"
"Only if you accept me for who I am" responded Sakaki. "I'm really not that confident when it comes to times like this, I don't say a lot usually, because I'm too shy to speak up"
"I was too shy to speak up too" said Kaorin. "Remember… when I tried to invite you to Astronomy Club?"
"Yeah" said Sakaki. "I should have shown more interest. You're a really nice girl; you just need the confidence to be who you are"
Sakaki put her hands on the sides of Kaorin's head and kissed her on the mouth. Unfortunately, such a personal moment was interrupted by a little girl with pigtails who was staring in awe.
"Miss Sakaki…" said Chiyo, "What are you doing?"
Miss Kurosawa covered the little girl's eyes quickly. "Chiyo, I'll explain it to you later" she said. "Enjoy your innocence while it lasts" She smiled, and added: "Sakaki, just make sure Kimura never finds out about this. You know what would happen if he caught on"
