Author's Note: Here is a short poem I wrote last year before school when I was bored. It may contain spoilers for those who have started Tales of Symphonia. Wait, it does. You have been warned. It is a short summary of the beginning of the game itself. Updated!
Disclaimers: I do not own Tales of Symphonia. It belongs to its creator, the lucky person...
Enjoy! Two worlds, depending enemies.
Rivals connected forevermore,
Through space, time and memories.
Though, as one prospers,
Even at the sake of the other,
No soul knows of this unforgiving arrangement
But the angel creators from up above.
From both sides, those two worlds,
A descendant from an ancient lineage
Must awaken the sleeping entities,
Guardians of this secret.
Only then can their world prosper
And renew its lost splendour.
Though at one terrible price.
One may think, as legend has it,
That they are to awaken
An ever-sleeping Goddess from the heavens.
Though this is where all falters,
Lies and rumours added,
By accident or by reason,
By the hope of the suffering or the ideas of the strong.
The tower in the distance,
A sign of salvation to all,
The end of the journey,
Bringing the renewal of the earth
And the awakening of the Goddess.
Though, it hides a deeper secret:
The resting place of all those chosen before.
This is the purpose of their journey:
The awakening of the Goddess
While they receive eternal sleep.
Losing more than they set out to lose,
And many times, receiving nothing for their sacrifice.
This is why so many suffer the price,
A hope based on lies of salvation.
The turn now falls on a young girl,
Accompanied by an unlikely hero,
Magical siblings and a mercenary.
She must succeed in the completion of the ritual
To obtain what they hope is salvation,
Even if it be for little.
This is what they believe in.
However, their journey at hand,
Already proven difficult from previous tries,
Grows darker and unsettling,
The true face of their world taking shape.
Ignorance is bliss, a saying fatal,
And proven during their journey as false.
The naivety of the young perish as the journey lives.
Betrayal, hope, love, sacrifice.
Common words, unproven in our society.
Pronounced usually without second thought.
In their world, their true meaning surfaces,
Revealing the hollow and helpless form of the world,
The world they wish to save.
No matter what the cost.
And yet, at the moment where they finish,
Minutes away from their final obstacle,
Their lives tip off the delicate balance,
Falling into a sea of doubt and suffering.
Their once perilous and changing journey,
Now becomes one of betrayal and loss,
A journey to grand to handle.
Where to turn?
What to make of this and what to believe?
Is there no way to satisfy everyone?
Or does the hopes of the gentle idealist
Seem in vain in a world full of torment?
The answer may lie ahead if they are strong and
Willing enough to continue their journey.
Hope remains forevermore a source of light
For one to follow in times of darkness.
Justice is not a word; it is an idea not to be taken seriously.
No one knows its true meaning, the meaning of the strong only.
Faith is what everyone in their world has to put into their journey
For a chance of success.
For a world were sacrifices will disappear,
Where the strong do not command but help the weak,
Where discrimination becomes an idea of the past and not the future.
For a world where no one is born for the sole purpose of dying.
For Symphonia.
Voila, my short poem. I would like to know how you like it. Reviews are welcome. I am a newbie at poems even if I write fanfictions...
