Prologue

I walked along a stone path in the forest, gazing up at a full moon overhead. I knew there was going to be trouble tonight. I could feel it in my bones.
As I approached an old wooden house at the end of the forest, I could see a shadowy figure coming out of the door to greet me.
I'd been here many times before but only now did I feel a chill down my spine.
"You're here to see the master?" the familiar voice of Jasper Hale asked.
He was wearing a dark hood over his head and I could not see his face in the dark.
I gulped and answered him. "Yes."
"This way, my Lady."
I followed him into the old house. If it was dark outside that was nothing compared to the interior of the house. We entered a hallway with not even the light of a candle to help us see. There were no windows so no moonlight could get inside. I was afraid, but I didn't let it show.
Jasper's breath led me through the dark shadows and into the sitting room at the end of the hall. He pulled out an armchair for me by the unlit fireplace and removed my jacket.
"The master will be with you shortly," he said.
He left me alone.
I sat waiting for what seemed like hours before I heard footsteps in the hallway. They came closer but I could not see a body because it was so dark. Then the door swung open and there he stood.
"Esme." I'd never forgotten his voice.
I stood up at my name and nodded.
He removed the hood from his blond head and smiled sinisterly at me.
"It's been too long."

Okay, well it may seem a little random right now but that's because it's just the prologue. I don't have anything more planned for this story but I'm trying to think of things that I could do to continue it. I will probably need to sort out back stories for everyone because it's a mystery to the reader. I have some minor ideas floating around in the back of my head but nothing set in stone yet.
