These are two prompts I dug up out of my files. The challenge was to listen to iTunes on shuffle and write (without correcting anything) for the duration of the song. I only got through two before real life decided to pay a visit, but I like them, so here they are.
Home Is Where the Heart Is
I need some distraction, a beautiful release. Memories seep through my veins.- Angel, Sarah McLachlan
The rain was pounding on the window, drumming just loud enough to interrupt his concentration, but too quiet to drown out the thoughts. He threw down his pencil and shoved the textbook away, ignoring the way it dumped half the papers and pencil shavings off his desk. His roommate was gone for the weekend, always was, and he wouldn't care about the mess anyhow.
"Dad's gonna make you clean that up when he gets back, you know," Dean always said when Sam felt the urge to toss things around, try to make their motel rooms a home. He always ignored Sam's cranky retort or pout, just shrugged with an understanding tilt of his head before settling on the couch and promising to cook macaroni for dinner.
But no amount of macaroni was going to fill the hole in his gut, now. He was at Stanford, rain dripping down the windowpanes, and no Dean was there to tell him to clean up because Dad was going to come along and make them move out—again. He was home now.

So Changed
I won't show mercy on you now. – What Have You Done, Within Temptation
The gaping chasm between them was too great to cross. Sam was on one side. Dean was on the other. And a river of demon blood flowed between.
Blood stained Sam's mouth and chin, turning him into something grotesque, as vile as a rugaru or any other monster that fed on human blood. Chalky whiteness drew the flush from Dean's face, turning him into a pained statue as he watched Sam turn and lift his hand, eyes dark—so dark.
