Dear Students of Riverdale High,

I've been writing and deleting this sentence for over an hour now. But hey, it's important to strive for perfection. My name is Elizabeth Cooper, and you probably don't know me too well. Don't get me wrong, you know who I am. That sweet blonde girl, hair in a ponytail, sparkling smile, not a bad word about anyone.

You've seen me at the school bake sales, I'm head of the fundraising committee, I'm a cheerleader. A peer tutor, the editor of the school newspaper, the organiser of every school dance, every event, everything.

But you don't know me too well, do you?

That's okay because I don't either. Because no one does. I'm an all-American facade. But guess what? I'm tired of being perfect.

Next school year is my last before I'm shipped off to college with the other over-achievers. What will Betty Cooper be doing this summer?

Working at a homeless shelter, collecting work experience, doing community service? Maybe Veronica Lodge dragged her off to study abroad? I know you all know her.

Well, Betty Cooper will be doing none of the sort. I'm out of here, out of Riverdale, I'm sick of my picture perfect pastel life. I've saved up and I'm spending this summer on freedom.

See you in September.
