I own nothing mentioned here but the idea that I thought it fit too perfectly.
If you want the full effect, I highly recommend listening to:
A Little Fall of Rain
Les Misérables
Fiyeraba Shiz, post Lion Cub
AU Musical/Bookverse
Fiyero could never express what he felt when saw Elphaba lying on the pavement in the rain. He immediately rushed to her side and cradled her in his strong arms, lifting her off the ground. Her light body was cold and the rain had already soaked through her clothes. Nauseating burns appeared on her skin. He offered to take her to help but she said she was too far gone, and he realized it too with a pang.
"Don't you fret, just hold me now." Her voice was barely audible, barely above a whisper.
He wouldn't have it any other way, but it worried him. He knew she would never say such a thing if she had been well. She would've simply brushed him off and laugh tauntingly, knowing that he could never have her because he was, well… technically with Galinda but that didn't matter now.
"Elphaba." He choked back a sob as he began to rock her back and forth like a child. "Come, you'll live… Just will it. Come, Fae- please… I-I, I love you… oh, if those words could heal everything like they say…" His voice trailed off and he barely noticed his tears because of the rain.
Elphaba smiled weakly and touched his face with her hand, her dark hair covered her face from receiving any major harm, but the damage had already gone too far on her body. Fiyero didn't even want to look, afraid his heart may shatter into thousands of pieces if he did.
"There's no pain, not anymore," She stated looking into his eyes. "Just hold me now… and let it be… shelter me, comfort me…" Fiyero obliged, heart aching he pulled his jacket from his back and wrapped it around her freezing body. "A little fall of rain can hardly hurt me now." She grinned sadly because they both knew what this meant.
"I'm here; I'll stay with you till… you're sleeping." He said softly, his voice cracked as he caressed her face.
"That's all I need to know."
"And you will keep me safe" "And you will stay"," keep me close…" She sang softly after him, her beautiful voice still resided there until her voice trailed off and her eyes were gazing to the heavens. Fiyero bit his lip and hung his head low. After what seemed like a life time he opened his eyes and closed Elphaba's with both fingers.
"I would live a hundred years if I could show you how I won't desert you now…" He sighed softly, kissing her forehead and resting his head in the crook of her neck, if not to spend one more night with her.
This is probably one of my favorite one-shots… you guys probably hate me but I've now officially killed Fiyero once and Elphaba twice.
