Not a Solider

Amelia looked up from her research and frowned. 'Something isn't right.' She thought, she saved her work and shut down her computer. She then stood and placed he computer within her bag. She removed the ear buds blasting 'Fight Song' and froze at the sound of some very familiar screams. Her eyes widened and she hit the stairs at a dead run. Taking them three at a time she quickly found the source.
She slowed to a walk as she entered the room and took in the scene at a glance, her friend, Toad struggling to maintain a grip on the guard rail, a white-haired woman clearly controlling both the wind pushing him away and the growing storm outside. "Do you know what lightning does to toads?", she asked clearly believing she was alone. Amelia's eyes narrowed and she spoke without thinking, " That's not a very good line.", she said leaning back against the door way. The woman spun around loosing concentration and causing both the wind and storm to dissipate. "But, I presume what it does to everyone else." Continued Amelia, unconcerned, "Also, what the hell do you think you're doing?" Ignoring the question the woman got into a defensive pose and snapped "Who are you?" She rolled her eyes and began to walk forward closing the distance between them. "I'm Amelia Crawford and you just tried to kill my friend." The woman glared "He tried to kill me first." "Undoubtedly." she said and smiled, "But that doesn't mean you get to kill him."
"That doesn't matter," she suddenly seemed almost desperate, "your leader's serum doesn't work. It kills!" Amelia shook her head and sighed "Please don't assume my side in this ridiculous war, and I know." Looking over the woman's shoulder she saw that Toad had climbed back up over the railing and decide to stop stalling. She walked up to the woman and cold-clocked her. Catching the body as it fell, she gently lowered the woman to the floor.
Toad started laughing and she shot him a glare, "Toad, how many times do I have to tell you to be careful?" He smiled and said "At least once every time we meet."
She looked him in the eye and raised a brow, " You do realize you almost died, right?"
Now he smirked. "Almost being the key word there."
Amelia just shook her head and turned to walk away, "You could still join us you know." She turned around, "Magneto's offer still stands." He continued.
She snorted, "Fat chance." Toad sighed, " We could really use you."
Amelia chuckled darkly and flicked a piece of dark blonde hair out of her face. "That's exactly what Charles Xavier said when he tried to get me to join his 'X-men'." She met his eyes and shook her head her acid green just a little bit darker than usual "Sorry, Toad but, I'm not a solider. Tell Eric Lensherr that." Once again she turned to leave.
"Oh, Georgia says hello. Say hi to Raven for me, and Toad you want out remember, just call." She smiled over her shoulder at him and began to walk away. "Bye, Amelia." He called. "Bu-bu-bu, you know I don't believe in that." Behind she heard the sound of his laughter and it made her smile as she left the building. Entering her helicopter She turned to home satisfied with what she'd accomplished that night.
