A/N: Don't know which muse this came from, but oh well, it's here now. Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek, originally created by Gene Roddenberry.
Reason #1
Jim Kirk's best friend is Bones.
Normally, any other time, Jim would object to this being a bad thing. That, off course, was before Bones became his Chief Medical Officer.
Back at the academy, Jim had never payed much attention to his health. It's not that he hadn't done anything that detrimental, but Jim did tend to 'forget' to eat. A lot.
But now, like any good CMO, Bones is taking care of the entire crew, whether they like it or not.
So not only does Jim have to stay healthy because Bones is a worried best friend, but also because if Jim dies, it's on McCoy's ass.
Reason #2
Jim Kirk loves Spock.
Though Jim does love Spock, sometimes he still can't quite believe it. (Of course, Spock always finds a way to reassure him.)
Leave it to James Kirk to pick someone rational to spend the rest of his most likely, short life with.
And even if Jim loves Spock, that damn vulcan sure nows how to be one hell of a pain in the ass.
Indeed, leave it to Jim Kirk to fall in love with the one person in his crew who can and will argue with him, not to mention logically.
Reason #3
Chekov and Sulu are involved.
It's not like Jim has anything against same gender relationships,. Hell, he's in one. Plus, he's never seen Little Pavel happier.
It's kind of a good thing for when they are working, they're perfectly in sync with each other. Mostly only voicing things only for the benefit of the rest of the crew. If Pavel wasn't so chatty, they might never actually talk.
But, then again, if Pavel won't do it, neither will Hikaru. And, by the same token, if Hikaru says no, Pavel will refuse as well.
And dammit, he's James Tiberius kirk, he shouldn't have to deal with mutiny!
Reason #4
Montgomery Scott works miracles.
This in itself is a miracle, because he's the best engineer. Who knew Jim Kirk deserved such a genius?
(He doesn't though, it's the ship itself that deserves a good engineer.)
But dammit, Scotty doesn't ever realize just how good is. Miracle after miracle, Scotty keeps denying.
But Jim's fine with that, as long as Scotty keeps preforming miracles.
Reason #5
Nyota Uhura is the best xenolinguist.
That's a good thing, of course. But, the best always get assigned to the Enterprise.
And she's not bitter about losing Spock, not at all. But unfortunately, if Jim ends up hurting Spock, not only will he have to deal with an angry Bones, but Uhura will be on his as .
Also, she believes Jim is an idiot. And he is, but he's captain, it doesn't help that Uhura is always there to point it out.
Oh indeed, the price Jim has to pay for the very best.
But as it were, Jim wouldn't give up command of the Enterprise, his (that's right, not Scotty's) Enterprise for the world.
Why have the world when you have the best damn ship and crew in all of Star Fleet?
A/N: R&R please!
